Arts and Crafts **Tie Dye Mickey ears shirts directions**NEW NEW PICS LAST PAGE**

I did my shirts, and I'm not too thrilled with how they turned out. I took heed to the instruction that a little black goes a long way, and it still took over the shirts! Instead of a nice yellow/orange combo with some nice black spots here and there, I got a lot of black and browns with a little orange and yellow peeking through. Everyone thinks they look fine since they don't know what I had planned. Oh well. Chalk this one up to experience!

I'll post pictures as soon as I get around to taking them. I'm trying to get ready for our DCL cruse (we leave on Friday for Florida) and I'm very far behind on my to-do list!

Oh bummer! :guilty: Don't know what went wrong :confused3 sounds like the black took over the rest of the colors, so sorry, I had oops's like that with some of mine in the past so don't feel so bad. Show us the pics when ya'll get back.

Have lots of fun! :yay:

I am pretty happy with my second batch. I will try to post pics later this week. I did black Mickey with Red, Green and Black spiral for Christmas.

Cool Tink! I did the same colors for Christmas, they turned out pretty cool, and now that you mentioned I need to take pics of those shirts. I made a little tiny baby one, it looks soooo cute and little.

Roxy,,,I just bought great T shirts at the store and now Im off to try all your helpful tips on making them!!! Thanx for all the awesome help and step by step directions, my fam is gonna love em!

Pix when we return!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait till my shirts get here!! Even hubby is excited, and he's the type who only wears dark colors, lol.

Awesome guys! Cant wait to see your pics from WDW, wish I could go too! Have fun.

DH also wears dark colors but Disney is always so hot, most of his shirts are navy blue, and he is always burning, one excuse to go shopping.

Okay, here's my question. I'm going to do this but only do a Mickey head on the hip, if that makes sense. The shirt is white and I want a Mickey head in 1 color, then 2 other colors kind of outlining it. Sort of like this

So I'm trying to figure out how to band it so the colors don't completely run into each other. I want to use yellow, orange and black. Any ideas?

Mmmm Im don't understand exactly, sorry :( maybe the same way you tided that shirt, one color, then the other and so on with enough rubberbands in between to keep them from running wild.

The picture I posted is someone else's shirt and I'm trying to figure out how to do it. I was thinking about just using the rubber bands between each color, but I wasn't sure if anyone else had tried to do it this way.

ohh, my bad! :flower3: Yes you can do it like that, just like a pony tail, separating the colors with the rubber bands. I made one with only 2 colors but is the same procedure just with more colors. :thumbsup2

omg! i saw mickey tye dyes everywhere last week! i asked one family if they were on the boards, they said no but they got the idea from here. after that i didnt want to ask anyone else!

I just did my second set of tees. Since I was trying to do a cruise-themed shirt, I scrunched the tee instead of the spiral so I could put the blue at the bottom and the yellow/red/orange at the top. I used red with some yellow splatted on for the head to try and make it look like a setting sun. We'll have to wait until tomorrow to see how they turn out!

I also put the clear glitter on the two "girls" tees. It's not quite the look I'd like, but my DD loves it, so that's that. It's funny because the clear glitter turns from green to silver, depending upon the way the light hits it, and whether you're inside or out.

I'll post pics of everything after we return from our vacation, or sooner if I find the time. ... :rotfl:

That's awesome! cannot wait to see them! Have fun. :wizard: the glitter sounds fun. Someone mentioned glitter before, I cannot remember, I saw the product at Michael's the other day and I was wondering how they would look with that and if it would last, my younger DD loves glittery stuff.

Oh quiltymom i forgot to mentioned about the colors, use the color wheel pattern. ;)
