Arts and Crafts **Tie Dye Mickey ears shirts directions**NEW NEW PICS LAST PAGE**

Never Order soda ash from Dharma, the shipping is brutal. They had a shipping code for half of shipping but I think it expired.

You can find soda ash in home depot, wal mart, lowes etc. Is called PH up/ Sodium Carbonated.

See how much will cost you for the urea, the smaller bag. Sorry. :( I know the shipping is brutal specially if you live on the east coast. I don't know why they don't ship priority flat rate boxes, it would be so much cheaper but I guess they want to make money on shipping too.

I also made some football tie dye... This is one is green bay packers colors...

I finished a batch of t-shirts last night, and I was surprised to discover this problem when I took them out of the wash: not all of the pencil I used to mark the Mickey head came out. I've done these t-shirts before and it's always come out.

What do you think would be the best way to get it out? I tried a regular pencil eraser but that didn't do anything. I don't want to mess up the dyes.

Thanks!

Finished dying shirts and it is time to rinse them. What is the best way to go about rinsing the dye out? Do I need to cut the bands off and then rinse or do I start rinsing first? O Please help!

Here's my first try at the Mickey T's. I"m fairly happy with the one on the left although I need to go back with the black and try to round off the right ear a little. The one on the right is just plain yuck! Not sure what kind of work shirt it will become :sad2:

I "thought" I did both of these shirts the same way but apparently not. Any suggestions on how to get a wider white boarder? I used 6 medium size thickness rubberbands and had them so tight I couldn't make another round. They also were about an inch thick from the Mickey gathering to the shirt.

Also, I had read where you need to hold the shirt Mickey side down when applying the black so it doesn't soak up into the shirt too much. I did this, let it sit over a large plastic cup for a bit so that it could drip before turning it over to dye the rest of the shirt.

Help.....please:flower3:

I love the color of your shirts. I think they turned out good. Personally I like the shirts with out the white around the Mickey head.

For those that have successfully produced a tie dyed Mickey head, how small was your baste stitch? The first two I made had stitches that were about 1/8"but I think that may have been too small since there were so many gathers that the shirt was really thick from the gathering.....hope that makes sense!

Thanks for any advice:hippie:

You can use bleach pen, works better. Your shirts look great by the way!! ♥

Pixie dust, thanks. By bleach pen, do you mean the Clorox Gel pens? Or is there a craft bleach pen?

Tried the Clorox pen and it looked like a kid had scribbled on the shirt with a white crayon.....not good.

So I came up with my own solution. I have a Wishblade, similar to a Cricuit, so I cut out a thin outline of my Mickey template on a Dark T-Shirt Transfer sheet, and ironed it on. Love the clean, uniform line it made!

Where can I find 100% cotton hoodies? I normally buy my shirts from Hanes, but their hoodies are all cotton/poly blend. Can anyone point me in the right direction?? Thanks!
