How do you get the white around the outside of the mickey?

What do you do to keep the colors so vibrant?

The white is just from where you tie the mickey and put the rubber bands, and the colors are just from the dye.

Sidenote on this thread - I'm getting ready to do shirts for our upcoming trip, and I just got a front load washer.

Is there anything I need to do differently? I've managed to confuse myself with the whole process!

Soak shirts, tie shirts, dye shirts, let set. Rinse shirts, and then wash shirts in the washer, right?

It should be any problem that your washer is front load.

The process is, soak shirts, tie shirts, dye shirt, let set and then wash shirt, then dry.

Do you make all of this just for your family or do you do it for others too?

What great work!

My son is the proud owner of a made by PixieDust32 long sleeve Mickey Head shirt.

He is going to be so sad when it gets to warm to wear it. He may outgrow it before next year.

I bought the Tulip Soda Ash seperate from my dye kit because it didnt come with it. The Soda Ash has two packets. I was wondering how many shirts the packet mixed with the gallon of water would soak?

When you have more than one Mickey Head/Shape, how do you twist the garment? Would you post a picture of that?

Sure, next time I make one. I do it the same you start from the middle on the front side of the garment and just twist it, then just tuck the fabric as you go and the mickeys as well. I'll be making another dress soon so I will post a pic for ya! :thumbsup2

Thanks. I don't know that I will ever be that ambitious. I still haven't started my first t-shirts. The supplies are still sitting in the bags. :sad2:

I just got done dying 10 shirts. They are now in plastic bags, which are in one big garbage bags. Tomorrow night when I take them out, do I just put them right in the washer? Wont the dye still be wet? Will the dye dye the inside of my washer? Do I take out the rubber bands? And does anyone have any tips for getting dye off your hands? Thanks!

Hi,
You can put them in the sink and rinse the excess dye if you like, remove the rubber bands before putting them into the washer, yes the dye is going to be wet and messy, the dye would not be inside the washing machine it will wash away.
About the dye on your hands ;) unless you buy a product that removes the dye ( I don't have it) only time will remove it, my hands are always blue, or green, purple :confused3 you can use some vinegar with just soap.

Thanks for explaining that. Sometimes I over think things! I guess I should have saved my gloves then! Also, after the wash you can just throw them in the drawer right?
