I know, :rotfl: I did that with my DH's under shirts, he had to buy more and kept them away from me :lmao: I used the old ones, those are great to practice.

Man what a great shirt.. Too bad I am like Tim the tool man Taylor..lol I am also interested if U ever want to make and do..:dance3:

For PixieDust32, I just love these shirts!! So I'm wondering how you do the smaller Mickey or other small picture. Do you just be pull it out also after you do the twisting?

Also, when you talk about using Tulip dyes, is that the little packets of powder that say "permanent fabric dye?" I bought a few but noticed it talked about hot water and vat dying. I hate to buy a new bottle of the "One-step dye" everytime I need a new color.

Again, these shirts are awesome!!! My DD12 and I will be headed to DLR on April 9th so I'm trying to get some shirts together. Thank you, thank you!!!:)

Hi,
For the smaller mickey the process is the same.

OK, tulip dyes for TIE DYE, fabric reactive dye, they come in kits with the bottles and refills or individual bottles, like orange, blue etc, you get one bottle with the powder in it.
The packets your mentioned are not for tie dye, those are use to dye clothes but you have to boil it or something like that, some people had used those for tie dye but you will not get the same result.

I recommend you the Jacquard kit if you are making a couple shirts for you and your DD or the tulip kit, the jacquard is better but if you can't find it, get the tulip or any other tie dye kit, check Michael's, Joan's or any craft store.

Thank you very much for the info!! I've done 2 shirts already with a Tulip kit. They turned out pretty good. A lot of white, but that's ok. I bought a Jacquard kit at Michael's that I will use for the next ones. I also got an individual bottle of black in the Tulip brand (the one I know is for tie dye.) Any words of wisdom for using the black? I fear a big mess.

Sounds like you got the right dye. :thumbsup2 Don't worry about the black, it should be just fine. With tulip if you want a richer black filled the bottle half way, or it would look weak :wizard: but no worries ;)

Hi!
I know you are a Dharma fan :) but in a crunch is the Tulip black acceptable? How would you recommend using it? (I'm still trying to resist the urge to whip out a few shirts for my family before we leave for WDW & a DCL cruise in FOUR days!!) What do you think about just yellow and blue from the Jacquard "funky" kit? Is 2 colors enough? I have a bunch of those kits that I bought for $6 each (thanks to Michaels 40% off coupons). Could I use the black tulip to try to make Mickey ears?

Also, I'd like more info about the yellow, blue and red tie dye pic in your "signature". Are those Dharma colors--if yes, which ones?? The all blue shirt that's just a few posts earlier--what colors are those? (I assume Dharma.)

I'm planning (in my head for now) for the 20 shirts I need to make for my son's class trip to FL. Just trying to get an idea of color combos--and what to order. It's hard to guess on the Dharma website exactly what will look good together. Plus I need something that both genders will find acceptable--don't think the boys would be too happy with something fushia, pink and purple! :)

Any specific color tips would be appreciated!! I know you are the master!!! ;)

Thanks!!!

The black tulip would be fine too, :thumbsup2 but if you want a more intense color, fill the bottle half way with the tulip.
2 colors are fine with the black Mickey.

The colors on that pic are the primary colors, the most popular colors, fuchsia red, turquoise and yellow, then you make your secondary colors with these colors (color wheel) green, orange and purple if you want to, just over lap the colors.
If you don't want those girly colors, you can use red instead of the fushia red, dharma has a few tones of red or you can make you own formula too.

You can just follow the color wheel for good color combo, some colors don't good look together.
Do not place "opposite" colors next to each other, such as red near green, or blue near orange, or yellow near purple: the results would be a muddy mess. If you really like bright colors, as I do, avoid placing a color with red mixed *in* it, such as purple, near green.

For the boys you can use reds, yellow, lime green, blues. And if you have some of the tulip Kits go ahead and use those, they're fine too.

Let me know if you have any other questions! :thumbsup2

I made these cute girls shirts or whatever they're name are, they look so cute, i wanted to try new styles and colors.

They look so cute. I don't know that I could pick a favorite. I do like the black and green combination, but then I love the girlie colors together too. :cloud9:
