Arts and Crafts **Tie Dye Mickey ears shirts directions**NEW NEW PICS LAST PAGE**

Hey, where did you find those new "girl shirts" that you just posted at?? Those are adorable!!!

The kids are on spring break this week... J's has a sale on shirts starting tomorrow so I plan to go pick up our shirts to tie dye.... which reminds me.. need to pick up 6 other shirst for DS13's basketball team and get their names ironed onto them..

Hi PrincessNancy, I found those cute shirts at Wal Mart. The had a cute lace around it and they're loose, the girls can wear them with capris, skirts, shorts, etc.

I made my DD and her team red and black tie dyes and ironed the numbers and names, they looked super.

Ok, bought the shirts.. need to print out directions and buy the dye yet..
I noticed at Jo Ann's the jaquard is sold in little packet like envelopes.. is that what you use?? if so, I couldn't find a price..what does it usually go for?? I think I'm gonna hit those 50% off coupons for them next week, those daffodil days ones! LOL

I don't have a Jo Ann's near by so I don't know what kind of dye they sell, but if it is Jacquard make sure is fiber reactive dye for tie dye, not the permanent dye that you need to boil. It should tell you on the pack.
Look for the kits, Jacquard has a small kit with 3 bottles, the primary colors and it comes with the soda ash, if you are making small shirts that one should be enough.

I love the coupons, Michael's takes the hobby lobby coupon too :lovestruc

Thanks!! I'm making notes.. did not know the Michael's would take HL coupons.. good to know!!! I may just have to go camp out and read all the boxes/packets of info..
I have soda ash in big notes and bolded on the list! LOL

If they said fiber reactive those are good, they normally come in kits and tulip brand has individual bottles.
So far you would need

Soda Ash...check
Rubber gloves
Rubber bands
Fiber reactive dye
Needle and thread or floss if your rather use floss.
100% cotton shirts....check
A bucket to soak your shirts.

After your soak your shirts, wring them really good with your hands and then tie them just like in the pictures (First page) .
Tips: tight your rubber bands as much as you can, the more rubber bands the better outcome. Don't be discourage if the die leaks from the Mickey, it happens to me a lot, sometimes it depends of the dye, I noticed that some colors work better than others.

OOOH!! Love the pink!!

I'm thinking of making the family ones in shades of blue... I think you did one in shades of blue.. I need to go back through the thread to check...

I also need to see if they have gray??? My DS13 wants me to make them school colored tied dye shirts for the volleyball tmt coming up... red and gray...

So after watching this thread for the past 3 months, we finally did our shirts today. They are resting and we'll see the results tomorrow...... I'm nervous!!!

Yes there is gray, but if you have black already just add less of the amount on the direction for a gray-is look, or you can get gray as well too.

Don't be! Good luck and let us know. :thumbsup2:hippie:

They're looking good!! :hippie:

We have them in the wash right now and we definitely have Mickey heads and not blobs like I was so afraid of!! We did purple heads with pink, tourquise, yellow and lime green.

Since we have only my nephew as the only male going, we did his Mickey in blue and the rest in lime and yellow.

Will post pictures later!

You're welcome Plutos.

OK, someone asked me to try to make a pillowcase, so I did. It turned out way better than I expected. I think it looks amazing.
The colors are bright and cool.

I think it can be perfect for character's autographs, with a fabric safe permanent marker.

So here is a couple of pics.... Hope ya'll like them.

I really like the pillow case. :thumbsup2

Question, I didn't pay attention when I purchased the shirts. I so concerned with the 100% cotton. My shirts have pockets. Is there anything I need to do different so that it looks okay?
