When you stich the Mickey head, you use a basting stitch (just up & down & up & down) and when you make your full way around Mickey's head, where the two ends of the thread meet, you pull tight & it cinches it together. Sort of like a drawstring pouch. Then you tie it in a knot so it will stay.

You leave the floss in place through the dying process, soaking process, & I removed the floss when it was time to rinse the dye out.
