I think they turned out pretty good for my first time tie dying ever.:cool1: Ihad to go around DS's with a bleach pen to make the Mickey head stand out more, but I think it looks good.:woohoo:

LOVE them!! :thumbsup2 Great colors! Are they Dharma dyes? The colors look great and vibrant!

Loving all the tie dye pics! Here is one of us at WDW -- I need to crop it in closer and remove that darn park map :rotfl: , but I still like it -- shows off the Mickey on the back, which I recommend you do -- it just adds a little more magic!

What a SWEET picture. I just love it.

I had to look at it for a few minutes to figure out what you meant by that darn park map, then I saw it and cracked up!!! :lmao: :rotfl2:

looking for some help! We leave next Friday and i've been a bit intimidated to start this project.

I bought the tulip set and the wal-mart powder packets. Which do you suggest would give me brighter colors? (from what i read, it seems like the Tulip ones don't work as well.).

And then for those that use the WalMart powder packs, did you jsut follow the directions on the bag or did you do something different. Did you mix with the listed quantity of water? And then did you use squirt bottles or something different???

And i'm supposed to use soda ash too right??

Sorry for all the questions, just want to try and get it right the first time!

Thank you!!!

Here are our shirts! The first 2 with my DS were the first attempt. The shirts looked amazing but I was so excited that I just untied them and forgot to rinse them first so they turned pink. The ones with us in them are the second attempt. They turned out well also just not as vibrant as the first. I am doing it again tomorrow with a friend for her upcoming trip.
:hippie: I LOVE TO TIE-DYE!!:thumbsup2

Here are a couple of photos from the LOEMH at the MK on 10/19. We had a photopass photographer get photos of us during the day, but I haven't yet ordered the CD!

Hi, I just did my shirts and I need to touch up my Mickey heads with a bleach pen. I've never used one before. do I just trace the Mickey head with it? do I need to wash the shirts after I do it? any other ?'s or things I need to know about the bleach pen would be appreciated.
Thanks!

If you look in post #443, I had to use a bleach pen to touch up my DS's shirt. All I did was squeeze some bleach onto a paper plate and used a paint brush. I flicked the brush from the Mickey head out so it looked like it blended in. Hope this helps.

Here are my shirts.

Do you think I need to do the bleach pen around the green Mickye head (DH'S)? Overall I think they turned out good. this was my first attempt. The best spiral was on the non Mickey head.

How did you do the mickey on the back? Is there one on the front too? If you already posted, do you know the post number? I need to make some before December, probably long sleeved!

Yes, we did one on the front and the back...they are both done the same way -- baste both MH, pull them up and tie it off, then dye one side (we just dipped in dye) and then put ziploc bag around it and do the same to the other. Then do the rest of your shirt (bunch up into a loose pancake, wrap rubber bands around, wet shirt with soda ash, sprinkle DRY dyes on, wait 24 hours and voila!)

Remember we did the crystal dye method -- I have instructions in previous posts -- so we don't have the swirl pattern on our shirts at all.

Post #248 has instructions...Post #251 shows the shirts...there are more posts around that section, so you might just want to begin there.

Good luck and definitely post your pics!

I'm going to make more for our May trip, too!

I am really excited at how they turned out...
I almost never follow through with the craft projects I plan, so I am so proud of myself! I retouched some with the bleach pen, and it just defined the mickey heads a little more. I don't think I rolled my danish enough, since there is no distint sprial, but hey its tie dye!
with mickey heads!
I don't think I have enough posts to share my pictures, but

I just wanted to thank everyone for their advice and pictures!

Nice job!:thumbsup2

We just received our PhotoPass photos, and I wanted to share this with you. Doing the Peace sign was the photographer's idea, which I liked. Feel free to borrow the idea!
