Tie Dye Instructions for Spiral Mickey Shirt

Hiya :) I'm kinda new around here, and I just *love* this thread!! I love anything crafty. I want to make some shirts for our upcoming trip, and I was curious if anyone knows where to get a dress in a 3t or 4t. I figure if anyone would know, it's all of you :)
Thank you so much, I love the inspiration! I hope I can get good enough at this to contribute.

I've ordered shirts from jiffyshirts.com, but I'm not sure if they have dresses. They do have a wide variety of items. :goodvibes

The company that sells the Dharma dye has a wide variety of items in white for purchase. They did have womens dresses.

Why oh why is it so hard to wait while my tie dye is setting up????? I have zero patience. LOL

I love this thread!!! I'm getting shirts ready to dye. I went to Michaels today and got some resist. I made a tink with it. Now my question is when I dye it can I do it a spiral or does it have to lay flat? I don't want to mess up my tink resist. HELP!!!

I don't have an answer for ya - wait on Tinker - she'll be back next weekend & she's the resist pro...though I don't know if she'll let you in on all her secrets - LOL;)

Here's my first batch. I like them. I know things that I'll do differently next time though. :)

eeyore-1.jpg

This shirt is mine. I :lovestruc Eeyore! I did Eeyore using a resist. I cut the image with my cricut and put the stencil on the shirt. I dyed the shirt flat because I didn't want to mess up eeyore. I think next time I might try tub dying this type of design.

This one is my daughters. She loves Tinkerbell! This was done using the resist as well. I like the way it turned out but next time I'll do a darker color in the middle so tink shows up better. I may take a bleach pen to her and see if I can get her to stand out more.

This shirt is mine too. :) I did a swirl with a mickey in the lower left corner. I didn't band it tight enough. Oh well. Have to get that bleach pen.

This one is for the baby. You can't tell but it's a yellow and lime green swirl.

Next on the table are a mickey resist for dh and an ariel for my middle daughter. :thumbsup2

Where did you get the Eyore and Tink Stencils? They came out great and I would love to try something like that. I have used resist for Mickey swirl shirts and like how it works. Rick

I made the eeyore one from a jpeg I saw online. Tweeked it in photoshop and then cut it out with my cricut. The tink one was on a cricut cartridge that I have.

Ok, y'all have inspired me to try this! We are leaving Oct 14 for our very first WDW trip!! I have ordered a personalized design from Donatalie, but I think I will also attempt tiedye shirts in addition.

For a first timer, can I get some decent dye from Michael's or Joann fabrics?

Also, has anyone used "resist" to write a name inside the mickey head? Just wondering...........

Thanks!!

Okay, here's the shirts I did from our second session. (My sisters turned out even better than mine, the weenie. LOL)

And from the back (isn't that crazy? It's almost like a face...creepy. She also said it's a good thing that's the back...ahem :lmao:)

This is for my dad, using the tub dunk method & bleaching on the Mickey head after dyeing, before washing.

DS spiral Mickey - front (the mickey head is a bit more clear in person; he's happy with it)

DS spiral Mickey - back

My shirt! No Mickey, this was just an extra I experimented on. Used an accordian fold, then the squirt bottle method. (Like making the paper fans back in school)

DS extra shirt - again, had an extra from the pack and experimented. He wanted me to try to make squares, well fail on that, but the stripes it made are kinda cool.

DH spiral shirt (no mickey, he already has a mickey one in red/black)

I feel lots better about these than the first batch!

Thanks again for tips and advice...next time I'm going to try this resist thing!

My family has had good luck with the Tulip dye kits from Joann and Michael's. We have always used 100% cotton shirts that we have washed prior to dying, this removes any sizing or fabric finishes. Also, we have the shirts damp when dying.

Hi guys! How ya'll doing over here! Just stop by to say HI!

Some new pics to share....
