I have this posted on the budget board but no responses yet so I thought I would try my trusted new-DVC neighbors!

I bought brand new 6 days passes (bought July 2004) from a friend who ended up not being able to use them. They only have 3 pluses and it doesn't include DisneyQuest. Can somebody out there who understands the ticket thing better than me answer a few questions?

Can I upgrade them at WDW (I have the original receipt) to a new 6 day pass with the better/more pluses?
How much will it cost? I believe the original price was $306 or so??
Where can I upgrade?

Some side info - these are non-expiring, park hoppers plus. I am DVC so I will definitely use the days.

Thanks for any info (not even sure if this is the right board...I am still confused on where to put things).

Yes, you can credit the old ticket towards the cost of a new MYW ticket. This can be done at Guest Services at the theme parks and Downtown Disney. The new ticket will have to be a MYW non-expire park hopper w/ magic plus pack. It may make better financial sense to just use your current ticket as is - it depends on your needs.

Try the WDW Ticket Cost Analyzer I created to determine your best option. Click on the link in my signature to download it. Hope it helps.

For somebody with so much college behind me (3 degrees) I am having a problem figuring this out...it may have to do with a sick toddler in the house and it being so late BUT I am guessing it would be better for me to credit the ticket into the newer one. Here is my reasoning and somebody tell me if I am wrong. This trip will be with my daughter but next time will be adults only so I will be able to use the DisneyQuest and PI options. With the old tickets I don't have DQ (Correct?). So for upgrading about $15 I will get to go to DQ. Am I getting closer on this?

Rash,
Thanks for that spreadsheet! Ugh! I had already done all of that math on paper! We are definatley trading in our 7 Day Hoppers but I was trying to decide between 10MYW w/no expiration or PAP's. The difference for us was so slight that I thought the 10 MYW be better since the PAP's will expire in a year.

However, we decided that since we go to the parks often but for short periods of time the PAP's give us all the freedom to come and go as we please. With the DVC discount and the days remaining on our hoppers, it'll cost us about $700 for 2 adult and 1 child PAP's. I didn't think this was too bad of a deal.

Thanks again for confirming my numbers!

Well I didn't use the cost analyzer that Rash provided, it wanted me to download it to my computer and I don't need it, but from what I figured by looking up advance purchase prices at mousesavers this is what I have:

Upgrading passses to premium with no expiration (surely you will still get advance purchase pricing):

6 Day - ~$329.36 (~$23.36 more)
7 day - ~$340.42 (~$34.42 more) - 1 more park day & 1 more plus option
10 day- ~$395.02 (~$89.02 more) - 4 more park days & 1 more plus option

I think tha t if I were going to do this I would sure try to do the 10 day non expiring pass - 4 more park days for just an additional ~$66 over the 6 day pass.

Hope I did this right,
Lori

You won't be able to get advance pricing because the tickets currently in hand have to be turned in at a customer service counter. Therefore you are not actually purchasing them in advance. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

My thought process was that they have been purchased in advance and are just being upgraded. I am not at all sure about that though. Just what I was thinking.

What would it cost you to upgrade them to PAP's with the DVC discount? Maybe that is another option for you.

Just checked the site and upgrading to PAP's ($415.36 w/tax) would be about $106 more per ticket.

Thanks for all your advice. AP's aren't the best for us because we won't be going down too much in one year. Thats why something like the 7 days and up might be better. Lots to figure out!

Alexander is correct - upgrading or crediting old PH tix requires paying gate price for the MYW tix. Advance purchase pricing is not possible when upgrading or crediting old tickets.

Thanks for the info. I definitely wasn't argueing the point with him, just letting my misguided thought process be known!
