Hi all

We're visiting DLP from 18-22 July. My question: is it advisable to buy tickets before going or are they the same price at the gate?

Thanks
Jackie

Are you staying on site? If so have you chacked if park passes were included in your room rate, ours were. I would recommend getting them before you go as the line to get passes at the booths is huge, if you already have them you just walk straight in!!

No, we're staying off site but the problem is that DLP will only post out orders 10 days before the start of our trip and I'm worried that we wont get them on time. As we don't live in the UK I don't know where else to buy them in advance.

Thanks
Jackie

I would ring Disney and ask, maybe you could pay for them in advance and pick them up when you get there.

Jackie - will you be in the parks all 5 days? If so it might pay to get your family the annual passes! One of them if under 100 E if I'm not mistaken. I believe that for any stay over 3 days, where entrance is not included in the hotel these annual passes really pay off! You can see all the prices here:

Jody, thanks so much for that.

I checked it out and in fact the one under E100 is for residents of the surrounding area only but when I looked at the Fantasy annual pass which is E119 each it also says that if you buy 5 of them in one family you get 20% discount which works out just slightly cheaper than the 5 individual 3-day passes I was going to buy. It also gives us 10% discount in the shops and free parking so thanks so much for that.

Just one question Jody and of course anyone else in the know, did you buy your tickets in advance of your trip?

I've looked at the official site and they don't appear to send tickets outside of Europe. If I have to buy them on the spot (which I don't have a problem with), can I also buy annual passes on the spot and still get my 20% discount?

thanks again everyone
Jackie

Hi again Jackie,

I phoned the reservations office at DLP and ordered the annual passes, charging them to my credit card. They mailed me temporary passes, which we used to enter the park the first time. On that visit we went to the annual pass office, which is located near Space Mountain and they exchanged our temporary passes for permanent ones, gave us gifts (my daughter chose a stuffed character and I chose a picture album), and vouchers for discounts in the shops and restaurants. This worked out really well. You'll be glad you got the AP's I'm sure.

Jackie, your temporary passes that you receive in the mail should work for free parking on your first arrival. For the shop and restaurant discounts you have to stop in to the office in Discovery Land, though, and take care of getting the permanent pass. The office is really nice and we found the CM's there very friendly and helpful.
