Tickets- valid 14 days from first use?

Help me figure out how I can make this work. This next trip we're going to try to go to Sea World one day (and is it true we can take a bus from DTD to there?). Anyway, our trip will be about 9days/8nights. So I was thinking of getting a Disney package for 7nights and adding another night of room only (I'd tie the reservation together, right?). That way we're not paying for tickets or meal plans for the day we're gone (since we'll be there all day). But we would probably go sometime mid-stay (I can't begin/end a Disney vacation at a NON-Disney location!!!). So what I'm wondering is, if say our last day is the room only, will our park tickets still work that day? I thought I read that they're valid 14 days from first use, which in that case it would work, but I wanted to confirm that.

Am I thinking of an okay way to do this vacation or does anyone else have any other suggestions? Ideally the way I'm trying to get it to work is how we'd like to do it, but if there is a better way I'd love to hear about it!!

Yes the tickets will still work after you check out. You can even add more days after all the days were used up, again provided you are still within the 14 day "life span" of the ticket.
