Tickets now for a package later?

If I buy tickets for my trip now, and later on Disney offers Free Dining for my dates, I won't have to buy another set of tickets to get the promo, will I/

Is it at all possible to buy tickets from someplace such as Undercover Tourist and have those tickets used in conjunction with Free Dining, if it is offered?

If there is any chance Free Dining will be extended to cover my trip dates, I don't want to ruin my chances of getting it by buying my tickets in the wrong manner. Or am I crazy to even hope they may extend the Free Dining dates?

If I were you I wouldn't buy them now. We did that last year because our original plan was to stay offsite. Well fast forward to this year and a LOT of changes and we decided to take advantage of free dining. When I called I was told I couldn't book b/c I wasn't adding tickets.

Luckily I had an amazing CM and through talking I realized I would only have to add 2 days to get the whole trip (11 nights) of free dining. We had only purchased five days so far, so that was an easy decision.

Another downfall though is that I wanted to add park hoppers to my entire 7 days. Nope - I can either add to the original five (once I get to the park) or the 2 I booked through them but can't combine. At least not through them - we will try once we get to the park to try to link.

So yeah if you think you might stay onsite I'd wait on the tickets.

As far as the free dining dates, this is my first trip so I don't have a clue about that.

The dates are October 21-27. I definitely want to have my tickets ahead of time, so that I can book FP+.

If my some miracle Free Dining is offered, and I already have tickets, could I just buy 2 day passes to qualify for the dining, and then save them for another trip? I really doubt they will extend the dates for Free Dining, but I don't want to miss out if it is offered either.

yes, you can. We've done that previously (got free dining while having Annual Passes - just bought the 2 days to get free dining and saved and used the 2 day tickets on a later trip - upgrading them to APs)
