We have an upcoming trip booked for my family and my sister's family - all staying together in a GV using our DVC points. I was hoping some of you out there might have some advice on the best way to handle park tickets and magic bands.

I would think the two options are:

1.) I purchase everyone's park tickets and just have my sister send me a check for her share. Then we have a "central control" for tickets, which would require me to handle the linking of the tickets to our reservation, and mail them their MBs after they get to me, etc. I am okay with all of those things, but my one concern here is making FPs. My family and I will be taking it a bit easier than my sister and her family. My kids are also older and interested in different rides than her little ones. I guess I could give my sister access to my MDE account and she could make FPs for her and her brood and then I could log on at a different time to make ours? But then it would be more difficult for her to make changes once we are there? Aye aye aye. Times like these I really REALLY miss those old paper FPs.

2.) She purchases her own tickets and we purchase ours. But then we still only have one reservation number. Can she make her own MDE account and link her tickets to her family members? I guess my main question is this:

Can you have two MDE accounts with MBs and FPs linked to the same reservation number? And if so, what glitches can we expect from this? Because there are always glitches! Lol!

You'll get their magic bands either way---they will ship them for everyone on the GV reservation to you. I believe she can still create her own MDE account and link the tickets and magic bands there. Then choose who makes ADRs and you can each make separate FP reservations. AFAIK with the current FP support you can have different people editing the FP reservations. It sounds like you should let her manage the FP reservations and then you change the times where you don't want to join (since it sounds like you want fewer reservations, not an entirely different schedule.) Haven't tried it though.

I haven't tried this but my understanding is as Bruce says, you can have your sister create a MDE and link to your MDE. I remember when I took care of our friends and their grandchildren there was something about only the original account being able to make adjustments to minors so look into that.
