Last year I bought an AP for myself & 10day non-expiring premium tickets for the rest of my family with the intention of using the remaining for our next trip. We'll we got carried away & used up 7 days. The 3 remaining days + 3 plus options is not enough for our next trip.

My options are:

Buy a 1 day ticket: $278
Buy a 5 day base ticket: $760 (not crazy about not having the PH)
Buy a 5 day PH: $932

or trade in the remaining tickets & get them all AP's.

TIA

I don't understand the last option... why make that leap?
Oh... you mean should you upgrade to an AP (if you can) from the original 10-day passes.

11 days, total use, is about the "magic number" for making an AP a good choice.

I can't tell from your post how many DAYS, total, you will be at WDW for THIS trip. (8 days?)

Yes, I was thinking of upgrading the tickets to AP's. I don't know if that's possible with pluses left on it. We'll be staying 8 days this time. DH would like to take some time off from the parks this time but I could take the kids to the parks. If the timing was different, the AP would be the best option but I'm not sure if we will be returning within a year.

I am guessing that the trade up value twoards an AP is about $75. which is the difference between a 10 day premium non-expiring which you bought and a 7 day premium non-expiring which is the equivalent of what you used up.

It is too late to count the vacation you already enjoyed towards the 12 or so days' break even for an AP.

If an AP does not suit your needs, you would get a better bargain buying brand new passes to fully cover your next vacation, and save the leftovers for further off in the future. If your next vacation is for 8, 9, or 10 days you should not buy non-expiring passes.

Thank you. I may do that. Had I known last year we would be back so soon I would have bought them AP's. Oh well...can't dwell on the past. Thanks for the help.

Isn't there also some restriction about upgrading from premium passes -- that you have to upgrade to PAPs? :confused3

Yes it seems I would have to upgrade to PAP's. I'm pretty sure we won't be back until the summer of 2007 so I've decided not to do AP's. I may buy tickets for this trip & save the others for the next.

Yes there is but the OP would not be upgrading. That can only be done within the 14 days from first use window. You must remember that Disneyspeak is not always the same as the King's English. ;)

The OP can only apply the dollar value of the unused theme park admissions (losing the remaining plus visits) towards the AP. As seashoreCM said, it won't be a very large credit as MYW's are front loaded in value.

With the MYW tickets, rarely is it a good value to apply dollar value towards an AP if you have any intention whatsoever of returning to WDW anytime after that one year that the AP would give passes. You can never again replace those three park days with PH, unused plus options and no expiration for the $75. It would cost you nearly $300 at current rates to replace them. Save them and use them on a future trip. You'll come out way ahead financially in the long run.

Thanks for helping. I had another thought. I could get them 5 day base tickets & add the no exp. for $918.00. That would give us 4 days this trip & 4 for the next. I know 1 day we are definitely not hopping & I'm sure I could arrange my schedule to not hop another day. Would this be a waste of money?
