Tickets bought from Disney, not a package - question?

I have AP and so I don't usually deal with tickets. However a friend is going with me and since our room is AP discount it was not offered as a package so she had to buy her tickets and pay for them in full.

When I bought them it said they will be mailed to her. But when I look in MDE (we are linked) I can see her tickets already. Why do they mail tickets and will she need them? Obviously she will take them just in case but shouldn't the tickets be on her magic band if in MDE?
