I am going to Disney in January to run the Marathon. It will be a quick weekend and we will not be spending anytime in the parks.

I am going back in February for a longer trip and will be staying on our DVC points. If we book a room at the all-stars and get the tickets with our package that hopefully will include the free park hoppers if they offer them again this year...can we use the tickets and all the perks that come with a MYW package during our trip in February (obviously not dining ;))

If you get tickets as part of a package during your first trip, but never use them at all, they will still be good when you return in February. Whatever they were good for in Jan they will still be good for the same thing in Feb.

Unused tickets never expire. If you buy tickets in January, whether or not there is a special promotion doesn't change the basic rule that unused tickets never expire.

In other words, if you get the park hopper option for free in January, it will be an excellent move on your part to buy them then as part of that package, and then bring those room keys back with you the following month to use those tickets.

That's actually incorrect. All WDW tickets now have a 14 day expiration on them, UNLESS you purchase the no expiration option. You can upgrade your Jan tickets while there to the no expiration ones to use in Feb. The price of the option varies on the length of the ticket. It is a low as $15(for a 2 day ticket) to $180(for a 10 day ticket).

I think CleveRocks was noting the fact that the OP said they would NOT be going to any parks in January. The 14 day rule does not start until you actually use the tickets. Completely unused tickets do not expire. If they purchase in January and never actually use them until February, they will still be good.

Tickets expire 14 days after first use. Tickets that have never been used do not expire.

That's actually incorrect. Unused tickets never expire. Tickets without the No Expiration feature expire 14 days AFTER FIRST USE, not 14 days after purchase.

Seriously.

Look it up. If you buy a base ticket today, it will still be good 20 years from now if you never (before that) use any part of the ticket.

I know I'm right on this one. Respectfully, you are misunderstanding the "14 day rule.":flower3:

Look it up. Please go to the Theme Parks forum and click on the sticky thread about tickets, generously written by Cheshire Figment, a current WDW Cast Member who works in a ticket booth.
