It's been several years since I last had an AP. Are purchase dates and activation dates still two separate things?

Mensing, say I purchase one now, can I hold it 6 to 12 months before activating it so my 12 month window doesn't start until later? Or has that been changed recently?

Thanks!

It starts from the day you first enter a Park.

When you purchase initially, you get a certificate that's good for up to 12 months for activation. You should see an expiration date in your app showing the date by which it should be activated. The first day you activate it, your 1-year AP begins. All renewals also will begin on that same date.

PP's are correct. I just wanted to add that if you don't activate the AP within the initial 12-month window from purchase, it will revert to a credit that you can use towards a future AP (or any ticket of equal or greater value than the credit).

You have 1 year from purchase date to activate/first use the AP.
AP expiration is 1 year from activation/first use.

Does anyone know if online banks/financial institutes will work for proof of Florida residency?(nothing fishy just daughter moved back and she is now over 18 so needs her own proof. Just trying to find out what will work besides DL.)
Both my DS are over 18 and they use their bank statement as proof but I have always been with them when they activate, and I provide the mortgage & utility proof ... with matching addresses to them.

With 2 separate week long trips planned this year I know AP is the way to go. Would be my first one. I already have a 7 day date based park hopper for the first trip. Question is...

Is there ANY reason not to upgrade through Disney right now and wait till we get there to upgrade all three tickets?

Only things I can think of are park passes and money. Date-based tickets won't need park passes, but the AP will. Not really a big deal when staying onsite. If you use discounted GCs and don't have enough to upgrade right now I could see that being annoying, but if you want to buy the AP in the event WDW pulls APs again I would personally get it.

I’m a DVC owner and DH and I both have the Sorcerer’s AP. Our passes expire on may 1st, which is the first day of our next visit so we are unable to make park reservations except for on may 1st. We will be renewing our AP, but when can we do that? I’d do it now if we can so I can go ahead and make the rest of our park reservations for our trip. Also, we’ve never renewed before since this was our first year as AP holders. Can we renew online or do we have to call Member Services to get the renewal discount?

You can renew up to 60 days in advance (3/2) and 30 days past your expiration (6/30). You will need to call Member Services to renew since it will need to verify membership extra eligibility.

Are they stand alone tickets or part of a package? Package tickets cannot be upgraded in advance.

Currently have one day left on non-expiry tickets (that I purchased for the family back in 2009) linked in my MDE account. We are heading to WDW this May, but unsure if we will do two or three theme parks. I was hoping to purchase new (dated) 2-day tickets with the idea that we would use them up first, and if we decide to do a third day at a park we would then the 1 day left on our non-expiry tickets.

My question is: within MDE can I select which ticket (in this case, our existing non-expiry ticket vs a new 2-day ticket) to use up first? Or will it automatically select the ticket I already have when entering the first theme park?

You will need to stop at a ticket window or Guest Relations to have the tickets prioritized before entering a park.

Got it! The planner in me is going to go crazy until 3/2 because I like to have all my ducks in a row way in advance, but it is what it is until then I guess.

Stand alone. The price to upgrade all three tickets to APs is a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than buying an equivalent date based ticket for the second trip. I guess part of the hesitancy is knowing I'd be bound by the park reservation rules again (not a huge problem) and there is always that off chance, albeit small, that if we had to cancel for some reason then the next set of date based tickets would still be good unused. But again the pros outweigh the cons and I'm probably going for the AP, just not sure if I do it now or at the park.

What is the deadline for adding a day to my park tickets? I'm going to buy 2 day tickets , but may want a third day. Do I have to add the day before the second day or can I add it on the second day before I leave the park? I can't find this info anywhere

Are the theme parks the only place to do this? Not at the resorts?
And if so, are the ticket windows open before theme park opening?

It can’t be done at the resorts, but it can be done at the Official Ticket Center or Guest Relations at Disney Springs as well as at the parks. And yes, the ticket windows and GR outside the parks do open before park opening.

You still may wish to run your numbers. Are you purchasing 7 day tickets for each trip? You may wish to run your numbers to ensure AP is actually less than purchasing tickets for each trip. I know there is more that goes into the calculation - discounts, hopping, etc but it's still good to check as it's no longer 'x number of days in the park = upgrade to AP.'

If you already have a park reservation as an AP and that day becomes a “good to go day” what happens to the reservation? Does it disappear?
