So months ago I purchased tickets to two concerts, same artist and they decided that it was going to be one of those new paperless ticket events to prevent scalping or whatever, who knows. So I buy tickets and get a receipt saying that I need my CC and my ID to get in to the event and that everyone in the party has to be present to get it.

"You will receive tickets via: Paperless Ticket: IMPORTANT: You will not receive paper tickets for this event. At the time of entry, you must present the cc used to purchase your tickets as well as a valid photo ID. Your entire party must enter the venue at the same time. Tickets are non tranferable."

OK So I figure you get in line, they check you and then they will scan your cc and let you in. I was WAY off. Apparently you have to wait in a MASSIVE line to get to TWO box office windows that then will PRINT your tickets to let you in to the event. I HAD NO IDEA. We were running behind last night because well its a friday (work day)and we had to drive more than an hour to get to venue. We made it in on time but I found this extremely idiotic and frustrating and actually more than anything time wasting.

If you are going to give me my tickets anyway, why not mail them. Honestly I rather the scalpers get a few tickets than making me wait an extra hour to get to the event. Or at least they should be CLEAR that this is the policy not make it sound like you get in just with your cc and id.

Anyway tonight is the 2nd concert so at least I know what to expect.

Anyone else go to one of these, how was it? I honestly had no idea they were doing this and if that was their paln why not open up MORE windows for people to get their tickets.

We did get tickets like this within the past year, BUT I ordered over the phone and was told that we would need our cc and id to pick up our tickets at the entrance box office.

There were also lots of ppl who had normal came-in-the-mail tix (I had bought ours fairly close to the event) so the window was not overly busy. Sorry you had a hassle.

That's a shame, OP. The only time I ever bought paperless tickets, I had to be there in person with credit card and ID, but they scanned my credit card and admitted the number of people I had bought tickets for (in my case, 4 preteens to the Miley Cyrus concert.)

I was not attending but I had to be there in person anyway. That was inconvenient since I had to park and go in but at least it was quick - there were several lines moving quickly and I only had two or three people in front of me - it took less than two minutes to get the girls in.

dvcliz: That's exactly how I thought it would be and how I took their description. That's the way it makes sense if you want to make it truly ticketless.

rodeo: It wasnt extremely annoying and didnt by any means ruin my evening but it was very frustrating that they put these measures in place but can't seem to find staff or a way to make things go smooth and more importantly FAST!.

I guess hearing from both of you its very wishy washy the way they do ticketless entry. I won't mind tonight cuz I know but I HATE expecting one thing and getting another..lol especially with a having drank a bit too much dbf who is not very patient and not a big fan of the group but was attending just for me.. hahahaha)

I understand your frustration but it's like going through security at the airport - it's necessary to prevent fans being abused by scalpers. They should have had more lines though.

I did a paperless ticket concert in the spring. I wasn't sure how it was going to work, but it all went fine. The only hitch is that the person whose credit card was used HAS to be there with the cc and ID. So you can't buy tickets for someone else and use your own cc unless you are planning to attend also.

When we got to the venue, there was a box office where people were standing, but then I saw the main entrance doors and there was an usher there. He had the scanner for the cc, looked at my ID and in we went. It was very easy.

It makes me nervous, not having something in hand :confused3

Oh, I agree and I was nervous. But I printed out the confirmation I had from ordering the tickets online and brought that with me. But I did not need it. So much for "paperless" lol! I still used paper!

And yet Ticketmaster has nerve to charge a "convenience fee". I hate ticketmaster..lol

We don't use them anymore either. It's worth the effort to go to the box office when it's convienient for us and buy the tickets.

We also used it for Miley Cyrus, and it worked well - for the people who followed the instructions and brought their ids and credit cards.

I am sorry your venue didn't do a good job with it.

I'm not a big concert goer so had no idea they were doing this now. However, I did have a friend buy tickets to the Jonas Brothers from Ticketmaster and then the show was cancelled and they weren't refunded the fees. She ended up paying close to $30 in fees and got nothing out of the deal.

wow that sucks about the fees not being refunded!

UPDATE from the saturday show. Got to venue and they were doing it the way it was said in the email, go to entry gate show id and cc and they slide it and you get in that way.

I think they should really figure out which way they want. Two shows, same artist, two different ways to do paperless, makes no sense.
