My father will be joining us midway through our trip and staying for 3 full days. He has an old one- day park ticket that he would like to use up. My concern is: what if we want to park hop since we have an AP? Should I suggest that he buys some sort of park hopper for the 3 days? What would be the cheapest way to get him a ticket that will allow all of us to park hop for the 3 days? TIA!

OK, there are no park hoppers available through Disney for less than 4 days. The tickets that would be available for less than 4 days would only allow him into one park per day and the 2 and 3 day tickets have expirations. So, if you want him to be able to hop, go to one of the Guest Relations windows and ask what options they have in as far as using that one day ticket. I don't know exactly what they may be able to do for you, but it would be worth taking the time to ask.

Have a great time!:)

Thanks eeyore0062! Does anyone else have any suggestions or a number I could call to find out about this?

Disney purposely doesn't give you very many options for under four days. That's because they want you to stay longer. :)

If park hopping is what's important, I would suggest getting him a three day UPH for $187.44. If he can stick with a single park for one of the days using his old ticket, you can get a 2 day UPH for $137.39.

If price is what's important, I'd just order a new 3 day PHP that is currently available at the ticket wholesalers and at 800-560-2397 for around $170. If he sticks with a single park for one of the days and uses his old ticket, he will have a leftover park hopping day for his next trip.

The CHEAPEST way to go is let him use his old ticket. If you decide to go to another park, buy another single day ticket for that park at $52.

This may not be the best VALUE but it is the cheapest. If he's only going for one day, do you really need the best value?

Oops! scratch that. DUH!!! I started reading this thread, went to do something and completely disregarded the three day part.

However, I would just get a 3 day regular PH or 3 day PHP from a ticket broker (try ticketmania.com). Even if they have expiration dates. If he doesn't use all 3 days, let someone else in your party use it and save their "non-expiring" ticket for another trip.

Sorry about the first post.

i am pretty sure you can apply the 1 day pass toward the purchase of a 4 day hopper (granted he will have one day left over, but they never expire) At the very least this will let you all park hop :) So if Guest Relations says that your 1 day is worth $55 and a 4 day hopper is $221 you would pay a difference of $166 --

Does that help?

..and I thought that UPH were length of stay as they expire on the day of checkout, and had to be for everyone staying in your room.

Thank you all so much! I have been stressing about this. I am going to run all of these options by him. GoldenOldie: I like the suggestion about the 2 day PH ticket. I remembered that one of the days he will be there we have plans to only go to MK...it's DS's b-day. So....this means he could get away with a 2 day PH pass. The only thing is that I have never heard of this type of ticket. Could you please tell me where we can get one? Thank again!!:D

Unlimited Park Hoppers are sold at all Disney resorts. When you buy them there, you can customize it any way you want. Example: you're staying 7 days but Dad's only staying 3. You can get Dad a 2 day or 3 day UPH just for him and you can use whatever ticket media you already have for you.

heathrow42:
When UPH's are purchased ahead of time through CRO/WDTC, then all people in your party must have a UPH for all days you are there. It becomes a package reservation. When the UPH's are purchased at the resort, it is not a package. It is merely the Disney equivilent of a counter ticket sale. They can therefor be customized as needed.

The one drawback to purchasing at the resort is that they cost a little more than the advance purcahse price but compare that against what you will save by not buying them for the entire length of your stay or for everyone and you will usually come out way ahead.

Golden Oldie~ Can I just get him a PH? We won't be going to waterparks or anywhere else. Thanks again for all of your help!

LOL, of course you can. But if you are going to get a new PH, buy it before you get to WDW. The advance price is cheaper than buying it at WDW if you buy from Disney.

If you need a 3 day, see my previous post in this thread as you cannot buy those from Disney or at WDW.

I could be wrong but I don't think you can customize the PH or PH+ tickets (unless you are with a convention which I assume you aren't), only the UPH can be customized.

You can advance purchase a 4 day (no expiration) PH thru the Disney website for $192. This is a little more than the 2 or 3 UPH but you get 1-2 extra days which you can use forever. IMO, if you aren't going to use the UPH or PH+ options they are a lot more expensive on a daily basis:

a 3 day PH+ thru a ticket broker for $170 is $56.66/day

a 4 day PH thru DIS for $192 is $48/day

Anyway, just more info for you to ponder.

You can upgrade the 1 day ticket to any ticket media that is for more days by the end of the day that they one day ticket is used.

Not quite an accurate comparison. The $170 for the 3 day PHP includes tax and gives you a plus option for now or future use. The 4 day PH price you quoted includes neither. With tax it's $204.48 or $51.12/day.

Yes you can but you will either have to get a minimum of a 4 day PH or get non-park hopping 2 day & 3 day tickets. You will not be able to upgrade to a 3 day PHP or a 4 day PHP when doing this.

There are no 3 or 4 day PHP tickets, they don't start until you get to the 5 day level.

Also, word of warning when buying tickets through the brokers. There have been many times that guests spend their hard earned money on these only to get to the parks and find out they didn't get what they paid for.... there have been many tickets with no days left, and of course, you cannot find this out until you are standing there wondering why they won't let you in the park.

Your best bet is the 4 day hopper, ordered through the internet, or bought in advance from the Disney Store --they don't expire, so any unused days can be saved for later (as well as that one day ticket, also with no expiration date-- use that when you only want to go to one park). That way you KNOW what you are getting, and won't have any unpleasant surprises when you arrive at the parks.

I hope you were implying that they cannot be purchased at the gate because they most certainly do exist but they cannot be purchased at the gate at WDW.

Your terminology is a little vague. Brokers? Who are the brokers? What you are describing is the results of people buying cheap used tickets (illegal by the way) from roadside stand operations in the Orlando area.

Tickets purchased from the reputable ticket wholesalers like Paramount, Maple Leaf, Ticketmania, OTC, etc. have never had a problem.

ITA with Goldenoldie. There are 3 day PHP passes as well as 4 day PHP passes. There have never been any problem with the reputible wholesalers.

What does "ITA" stand for? I know most of the abbreviations, but that one has me stumped.

Thanks (or TIA) ;)
