Just returned from a lovely week long trip to Disney and I thought I'd share a warning about some difficulty I had at the guest relations desk at DD.

We arrived in Orlando on 7/30 and had dinner at Wolfgang Puck that night. While we were waiting I stopped in at guest relations to check on some old park hoppers that might have had a day or two. The fellow swiped the card said nothing left. I was a little suprised becasue I was pretty convinced there was at least a day left. He kept the card and I went to dinner and stewed on it over my tasty meal. When we went to buy tickets from th concierge desk the next morning - I took out the remaining old park hopper and had it checked and sure enough - there was a day left. It seems that the CM has to type the ticket number in - the system doesn't read it automatically. I was annoyed to no end as I was out a days pass. I passed the news along about my experiences at the DD guest realtions office to the CM at the Boardwalk - he just said - oops!

So the Downtown Disney Guest Relations CM kept your card to toss it out since it had nothing left? and at Concierge desk, a CM typed in a different ticket into the computer. Bingo right there...

When you scan a ticket like the CM at DTD would have done, there would be no possiblity for error. Either the ticket reads correctly - or it doesnt read at all and you have to type it in manually. It will never, ever scan up as another ticket.

When the CM typed the ticket information in at Concierge ( the resorts do not have the "swipe to read" ability that the parks & DTD have - they run on two different, but linked systems ) - then it was a totally different ticket than the one scanned at DTD ( Please correct me if I am wrong ) - one ticket may have had days left on them, the other was used up. The other, very REMOTE chance is that the Concierge CM typed in the code wrong.

I don't understand why he kept the pass. I would have asked for it back, just to keep it as a souvenier, or for my scrapbook. I'm sorry this happened to you, and thanks for passing the information along.

This would have made me VERY angry!!

And arent the tickets that are bought together "linked" somehow in the system?

You didnt happen to make copies of the back of them did you? or have a receipt? If you did/do then you can have them replaced......

That is so sad. I wonder if he had to turn the ticket in...There might be a way to retreive it. Do you have your #'s and could you ask for a replacement?

1) NO, they are not linked.
2) However, they might have sequential numbers, that's all.
3) That is why you should copy paper-ticket numbers.
4) If you lose one, it CANNOT be replaced without the number. *

* Tickets on rooms keys are different, because they can look up the room ressie and get the ticket numbers that way.

sorry......I thought I understood that the tickets could be retrieved. Maybe I have this mistaken with the new bioscanner technology that, I thought, lumped everyone in the same "group" together in order to prevent chaos at the turnstile with the "wrong" person in a group holding the "wrong" ticket.

And I personally.....ALWAYS take a copy of my paper tickets....
