Ticket voucher problems

I just posted this on the Ticket board, but no one there seems to know what I am referring to (which is confusing to me since I know that if you buy passes at the Disney Store they give you a voucher to trade in at park). Here is my question:

My DH's colleague is leaving for WDW on Saturday. Her adult son no longer can go, and therefore, he won't be able to cash in his voucher. The voucher expires in 60 days as they just picked it up from TA's office today. She called Disney and the CM wasn't able to offer much help, so she suggested she call the ticketing department, but she can't get through. She either wants to give/sell ticket to someone else as it's a 5 day Hopper, or keep it for the next time they go. I told her she wasn't supposed to give or sell her ticket so perhaps this is why the CM couldn't offer any suggestions. If they don't ask for ID, then she should be fine to pick up the Hopper, but if they do, she's out of luck. We haven't been asked for ID each time we switched our vouchers, so perhaps she might be ok, but she wants to get it straightened out before they arrive on Saturday.

Anyone have any suggestions, or have a similar situation.

Thanks, Tiger:earsgirl:

I think the best person would be Amerle3 to answer your questions. I also don't understand why there is an expiriation date on these vouchers.

If this is the case, as suggested on the other thread, have someone activiate the one voucher and then go back the next day to activate the other. Once they become 5 day Hoppers there should be no problem with who uses it. I think if they were AP, then there might be a problem.

Sorry could not be of better assistance.

I don't understand why she got a voucher for a PHP or why there is an expiration date. I've purchased PHPs from the Disney Store before and received actual PHPs each time...not vouchers. When I bought our APs in June I did received vouchers but there was no expiry date on those either. Are these special PHPs?

As my message states, she received these vouchers from her Travel Agent - they were not purchased from the Disney Store, if they were, there would be no problem as the CM would know exactly what she was talking about. This is how Holiday House, World of Vacations usually always does their tickets - we have never received actual tickets for Sea World, Universal Studios or Disney in the last 5 years, we have received vouchers that always expire within 60 days, and these then have to be cashed in at the theme parks.

This is what we suggested, but she said she mentioned this to the CM when she called Disney, and he said she couldn't do this because her son has to show ID. This doesn't seem right to me as our tickets always have a Family name printed on them (eg. Smith Family) and only one of us has ever had to show ID in order to pick up our actual tickets. She is a banker, so she was pretty self explanatory on the phone while talking to the CM my DH said as she deals with customer service issues each day. She asked him for solutions and he didn't seem to be able to offer any - she was on the phone for a quite awhile and that is why she didn't wan't to call back.

I am confused as to why my question has caused so much confusion! I know tons of people who purchase tickets through Holiday House or World of Vacations (which are sold by Sears Travel and American Express) and we always get vouchers with expiry dates. I guess most people around here get their tickets directly from Disney whether at the Disney Store or at the parks.

I'll let you all know what happens.

hanks for all suggestions, Tiger

Ok, but I did buy 5day Hoppers about 4 years ago from one of those wholesalers and we received The Actual Hoppers?

I think that is what is confusing all of us. I still have them as I still have one extra left on them!LOL

Please let us know what happens.

If the voucher says it expires in 60 days and they've only just picked it up and are leaving on Saturday, why don't they take the voucher down with them and go to Guest Services and see if they can get the ticket. The ticket will not expire and can be used for a future trip. With the same last name there might not be a problem and is there is, they've got lots of time to try something else.

Tiger 926, as far as passes go...there are many different types and ways to get them. If this voucher is just to pick up the PHP then maybe it has to be used by the date, but not neccessairly the PHP. Your friend should check with her TA and get it straightened out at the source. By you repeating some info and others giving you more info, it does make for a 'confusing issue' all round. Also if she decides to sell it she should inform who ever buys it re the expiry date so they don't think they can wait for a while before changing it in. Another suggestion is when they go to change in their tickets, they could ask that no name is put on the ticket as they may use it as a gift for someone.
Hope this helps.

I would have one family member pick up all the passes as if he is with her and there should be no problem. My whole family is never standing with me when I exchange my vouchers and it is never a problem. The actual PHP is good forever and he can use the next time he goes down. I have known people to sell the tickets and they have had no problems.
