Ticket usage question

My parents have decided to go to Disney with us in June. We are staying at Coronado Springs. The resort seems to be holding back rooms (probably for a convention and hopefully they will release rooms later) and they can't get a room on the first 2 days of the trip. They went ahead and booked June 7-12 in hopes that June 5-6 comes available later. We got them a 6 day park hopper. If they end up staying off site for those first 2 days, can they still start using the park passes on the 5th with the rest of us even though their resort reservation doesn't begin until the 7th?

They just need to stop by any Guest Relations outside a park or at TTC or at DS and
have their package tickets "activated."
