I read through the Ticket FAQ, but just wanted to make sure I was correct here. I want 9 days at Disney but they only sell an 8 and 10 day at UT.com. I can buy an 8 day ticket from them and then take it to the ticket window at any of the parks and get an extra day added on, correct?

In the past I would have said yes without hesitation but recently there has been some scuttlebutt about the possibility that WDW will no longer upgrade and/or price bridge tickets from 3rd party vendors. I don't know what the final official word was but I would do this at your own risk.

Considering the difference between a 9 day & a 10 day is only about $10/day, p/p, I wouldn't risk it & would either simply purchase the 10 day from UT OR forgo buying from UT & buy an 8 day direct from WDW so that I could upgrade.

You can absolutely add the extra day without any problem. All the rumors about not being able up upgrade a ticket are not true.

Barring any new facts, I agree.

Adding another "day" to an 8day ticket will cost $10.65 per ticket.

Me too. I just said the same on a DVC thread where someone mentioned and quoted from allears. Seems to be an unfounded rumor.
