ticket upgrading...Is this possible???

I have question for my SIL.

We are planning a trip in a few weeks, and her DH and daughter need 5 day passes for the trip. She already has a 10 day pass from a previous trip that is nonexpiring with 5 days left on it.

I was wondering if she can purchase a 5 day expiring pass to save $$$ and if they don't use all the days on it during the trip upgrade it before they leave to an nonexpiring pass?

Would this work??? Or do they just have to bite the bullet and get nonexpiring from the start and perhaps pay more money than necessary???

They can add on nonexpiring later but the cost will be based on the original days on the ticket not the days remaining.

Its not worth it to add non-expiring to the ticket if there is a short number of days left. The only way it would be worth it to me in this case is if you upgrade the ticket to a 10 day ticket and add no expire. If you want to look at the prices just go to disneyworld.com under quote your trip click tickets then click continue. The ticket page allows you to just add and take off options and if you look next to the day count on the page it shows just how much each day of the ticket is costing you.

For example a 5 day pass to go to no expire it is $55 extra. That means each of the days on the ticket cost $41.20 before no expire and with no expire $52.20.

A 10 day ticket with no expire would be $165 more then the 5 day ticket. Which works out to $37.10 a day. Its cheaper per a day then the 5 day ticket which did expire.

Yes, that can be done. I believe you have 14 days from first usage to either use all 5 days or upgrade.

Not 100% what you are tying to do, but here's a generic example…

The price of a non-expiring 5-day ticket is $55 (+tax) more than the cost of an expiring ticket. You can:

1) pay that cost up front, or

2) buy the cheaper expiring ticket up front. Then if you haven't used all 5 days, you can spend the $55 at the end of your trip to upgrade to non-expiring and keep any unused days. Keep in mind that if you use 4 of the 5 days, it probably won't be worth the $55 to turn your expiring ticket into a non-expiring ticket with one day left.

Sure you can but it is based on the number of days on the original ticket and is not worth upgrading. We had 7 day expiring tickets, but did not use one day due to weather. In order for us to make the ticket non-expiring for one day it was going to cost us $90 per ticket based on the original 7 day ticket we had purchased (for five of us that was just stupid since a one day ticket is less than that).

I guess it depends on how many days you have left as to whether it is cost effective.

Yes, I was asking if she could buy the expiring ticket and upgrade to a nonexpiring ticket if she does not use all the days by the end of the week.

She was going to purchase the nonexpiring ticket "just in case" she doesn't use all 5 days on their 6 day vacation, so that they would all have the same number of days left to use in the future. Remembering she has 5 days left on her old nonexpiring pass.

I told her yesterday that I was pretty sure she could just buy the expiring pass and upgrade it to nonexpiring if necessary to save money "just in case" they do use all the days.

I can only see doing the upgrading if she has 2 or more days left, but that is her choice.
