Ticket Upgrade Question

I have read that if we purchase base tickets (not park hopper) and decide after we get there that we want to park hop we can upgrade, but I'm curious about how that works. If we buy 3-day Base tickets and do single park for two days and then decide to upgrade to hopper on the last day, do we only pay for the upgrade for one day or do we have to pay for the 3-day Park Hopper even though we'll only get to hop for one day?

You'll pay the full hopper upgrade price ($55 flat rate for all multi day tickets). There is no prorating.

If there's a chance you'll want to hop, I would make that decision as early as possible on day one to maximize value.
