Ticket upgrade question

When you trade in your old tickets for an upgrade to a new one, does the "plus" options add additonal value to your old ticket or not (meaning only the park days have value)? If not, I will use up my leftover plus option before turning in my extra days for a new pass. Any tips appreciated!

I asked a similar question recently, and the prevailing opinion seems to be that we'll get nothing for the pluses as they are added in "free" when you purchase a hopper. I want to upgrade to annual passes this June, but I will make sure to take the kiddies to Blizzard Beach, first!

There is a great explanation of this issue on wdwig.com. The way I understand it, if you use any of the plus options on your hoppers then you have to upgrade to a PAP. We are hoping to upgrade unused hoppers to APs and since I do not want PAPs we will not use any plus options before we upgrade.

Well, they're not added in free when you buy the pass - EXAMPLE: the 5 day PHP will cost you about $30 more than a 5 day PH - but they are not figured into the equation when you do an upgrade. The reason is the the difference in individual admission prices to the minor parks. Adult gate price admissions to Water Parks are $33.02, Pleasure Island is $21.25, and WWoS is $9.69. So there's no equitable way to value the unused minor parks.

But the major parks are all the same price. So what they do is base your entire ticket value for upgrading on the major park admissions. That way everyone gets the same formula for unused days. The plus options are considered just that, a "plus", and not part of the main ticket.

To answer the OP's question, if you trade in a ticket with left over unused plus options, you will lose those options entirely. There will be no extra dollar value credited for them.

That's only if you do the upgrade within seven days of the first use of the pass and you have used a plus option during that time.

If you do the upgrade past the 7 day window, you will get the dollar credit for the remaining unused major park days and you can use it for a regular AP.

And naturally, if you have an unused ticket, you can upgrade that to an AP no problem.

Thanks for the clarification GoldenOldie. I was only thinking of upgrading unused hoppers. Glad you knew the answer!
