>>> ... starts on the first day you used ...
If you bought the Play 4 ticket at the start of this vacation 3 days ago, then the fact that the Seasonal Pass you upgrade to "started 3 days ago" doesn't make much difference compared with getting a Seasonal Pass that "starts today". At least not to most people. The 3 days would not be expensive unless you had a vacation planned at the very end of the Seasonal Pass' lifetime.
Now if your Play 4 ticket was from this past summer and had a coupl'a days left come your birthday, then the Seasonal Pass you upgrade to would have "started this past summer".
Back to the original scenario. To recap:
Step 1. Take the Play 3 that was exhausted as of yesterday and upgrade to Play 4.
Step 2. Submit the resulting Play 4 (now usable on your birthday as is required) and select the Fun Card.
Step 3. Upgrade the Play 4 to Seasonal Pass using the Fun Card to help pay for the upgrade.
Suggest doing this at three different ticket windows or not in quick succession.
