Ticket upgrade plan -- does this work?

>>> ... starts on the first day you used ...
If you bought the Play 4 ticket at the start of this vacation 3 days ago, then the fact that the Seasonal Pass you upgrade to "started 3 days ago" doesn't make much difference compared with getting a Seasonal Pass that "starts today". At least not to most people. The 3 days would not be expensive unless you had a vacation planned at the very end of the Seasonal Pass' lifetime.

Now if your Play 4 ticket was from this past summer and had a coupl'a days left come your birthday, then the Seasonal Pass you upgrade to would have "started this past summer".

Back to the original scenario. To recap:

Step 1. Take the Play 3 that was exhausted as of yesterday and upgrade to Play 4.
Step 2. Submit the resulting Play 4 (now usable on your birthday as is required) and select the Fun Card.
Step 3. Upgrade the Play 4 to Seasonal Pass using the Fun Card to help pay for the upgrade.
Suggest doing this at three different ticket windows or not in quick succession.

I think the comment by the PP about the first 3 days being expensive, would be if I got a Play 3, then purchased the Seasonal pass without having a valid pass with days left on it to upgrade.

Couldn't I skip one of the trips to the ticket window and just get a Play 4 to begin with, rather than a Play 3, then a Play 4, then Seasonal? As long as I only use 3 of the 4 days?

Yes. Just need the foresight to do this when you first arrive.

You plan, as planned, will not work.

First of all on Thursday (11/19) you will have two tickets in hand. One will be the fully-used Play-3 ticket. The other will be the Free on Your Birthday one-day, one-park, pass. You are looking to combine the two passes to upgrade to a SP. An upgrade, by definition, is taking one ticket and adding cash (or something similar to cash) to that ticket to end up with one ticket with more days/features.

However, if you purchase a Play-4 hopper, with a face of $190 when you go to Will Call on Thursday you will have a valid multi-day ticket in your possession (with one day remaining on the Play-4). You can then get a Birthday Fun Card worth $79.00. Take your Play-4 to a ticket window and upgrade it to a SP, a difference of $59 (plus tax). You can then use part of the Birthday Fun Card to make the payment.

The SP will have an effective date of November 15, the day you first used the Play-4, and the expiration will be 15 months from that date (Feb 15, 2011).

Nope. Was told I could not use it to upgrade, only for merchandise.

The birthday TICKET definitely cannot be combined with another ticket card to achieve an upgrade of one card or the other.

If you bought and used (or had to buy and use) another ticket card to start your vacation before your birthday, then you are not out anything when you choose the birthday FUN CARD. If the fun card can be used to pay for upgrading your other ticket, then fine. Either it can or it can't. If not then the fun card can be saved for buying souvenirs on your next trip if not this one.
