Just wondering if anyone knows if the likes of ATD do a post Christmas sale on their tickets? Trying to budget for the things we still need to purchase and with needing DC tickets and US tickets etc, the costs aren't pretty!

I know some offer deposits, but I think I'd rather buy and pay upfront in a sale if possible.

Thanks.

another thing to look at if you're going to universal for more than 2 days....you're probably better off buying an annual pass....

the price is the same or cheaper and you get additional benefits...

Not strictly true...You can buy a 14 day pass for around £120 per adult which gives you unlimited access to both parks. The most basic annual pass is around $230 with taxes, which is around £160 and that's with a ton of blockout dates over key periods. To get the full access annual pass, you're looking at more like $310 after taxes, or £200.

We visit most years but have never found it economical to buy an annual pass, even with the additional savings (a few bucks off at various city walk restaurants, merchandise, and free parking). For example, we are visiting at peak time this year so would pay £400 for 2 annual passes and then save say £40 through other benefits, making the "cost" £360. Alternatively, we buy 2 14-day passes for £240 and pay that extra £40, bringing the total cost to £280. Unless we plan more than one trip in a year, having the annual pass has "cost" us £80 compared to the 14 day passes.

Depending on how much you plan to visit and park, if you are visiting off peak so can buy the cheapest annual pass, it might be worth buying them. Or, purchase one annual pass to avoid the parking fees, and buying 14 day passes for the rest of your party.

AND - to answer the original question - never seen January sales and am told that January is actually peak holiday booking time as people are done with Xmas and thinking about the year ahead.

Thanks for all the replies. When I said sales, I meant more something like 5% off ticket sales or something which I have seen advertised before but think it was in the summer. I just wondered if any sellers offer this sort of incentive in Jan or even early Spring traditionally?

Probably right about Jan - it's when everyone starts thinking about booking their holidays, but not sure what it's like for ticket sales as not everyone buys their tickets for Florida as soon as they book their holidays iyswim.

I'll keep an eye out - we still have time I guess, but I'd like to get DC booked at least so we know we have our preferred date. With 5 adult tickets and 1 child to buy, it's looking fairly pricey.

I'll probably buy 14 day US tickets as we are staying either 3 or 4 nights (have booked 4 nts) at US - probably stay 3 though depending on how we get on.

Good point about Quidco - thank you, been using it a bit this Christmas and my cb is building up, not a lot but anything goes into our WDW fund :thumbsup2.

getting an AP for universal has up to 40% off onsite deluxe hotels.

sometimes it comes much cheaper than their stay more pay less deal.

the catch is that you have to book the AP rate, even if you don't have the AP yet (you need it at check in to validate the AP rate), you can't apply the AP discount on an existing ressie.

I'm currently pricing 1AP + 2 bonus tickets against 3 bonus tickets.
dates for the AP discount are not released far in advance, so I can't really know for my dates, but with the AP I seem to get rooms at $80 off a night at Portofino.

with the power pass at $215, it begins to look like it might be a bargain for our stay.
(Going for the preferred pass does not make sense for us, since we're not inside the blockout dates, and free parking is irrelevant since guests still pay at onsite hotels parkings. Merchandise discounts is also useless, since we wouldn't buy or eat enough to come even)

Decision will be made a couple of months out, if we come across good AP deals. If it's financially sound, we'll book under the AP rate and order 1 AP right after we book and then 2 bonus tickets for the rest of the pary
(to get AP deals, on the USF website, choose "promotion" in the dropdown menu, then type APH in the code box.. this only works a couple of months out IF AP rates are available for those dates.)

Thanks, but I have already booked the accommodation as we are going peak season so I wanted to secure the two rooms we needed. So I will just be going for 14 day tickets. Just need to find the best price after Christmas :thumbsup2.
