I haven't seen this posted, so here goes. If you get a room-only reservation and purchase tickets at the same time (officially called a "room and ticket bundle", BTW).....you will be able to get a FULL REFUND of the first night deposit AND cost of the tickets if you cancel at least 5 days prior to your arrival date! THIS IS NOT CONSIDERED A PACKAGE!!!! You must mention the "room and ticket bundle" to the rep. The deposit is the first nights room stay + the cost of the tickets. The tickets will be encoded onto your room key. I've confirmed this with 2 CRO reps and my TA has also confirmed it (she wasn't aware of it, either!). Happy days! :cool1:

My rep at CRO told me this when I booked our room and tickets about a month ago. I think it's great! Maggie

I did this!! (and posted about it) I didnt get a "ticket bundle" tho...

I made a "room only reservation" then I purchased my tickets online at WDW dot com... my tickets came in the mail.... then the "free dining" came... the more I did the math, I figured the 'best' I could get on a room, wouldnt save me as much as the free dining... so I called Disney... and a very nice CM helped me thru... I first just did a 24 hr hold on a room w/ dining, then the next morning when ticket services opened, I called, since I purchased them thru Disney, had all the numbers etc... I had to take a "leap of faith" and mail the tickets back to Disney Tickets... they credited my CC, it took less than 10 days btw...

So now we have the package...

I heard about this when getting an online quote and thought the TA was trying to push me into a package, I think I ticked her off questioning it so I went with someone else :rotfl:

After I understood it I still didn't buy the tickets. It didn't make sense to me to give Disney over $1,000 in Feb for a Nov trip when I can keep it in my savings account and earn interest on it. When I buy my tickets a month in advance even tho they aren't refundable they still can be used anytime if we have to cancel.

Just my 2cents, if you're booking closer to your trip the refundable feature might be good for you it just wasn't for us.

It sounds like you received a little extra 'magic', because the tickets and room must be purchased at the same time as a bundle for a full refund of the tickets to be allowed. Also, you won't be sent physical tickets when ordering the 'bundle'. You're tickets will be your room key when you get to the resort...so no tickets to send back if you cancel :)

We chose the bundle because you don't get sent physical tickets. Rather, the room keys will be your tickets when you arrive. I've heard people who have been successful in having physical tickets encoded onto their room keys, but most of the posts I've read were from people who were not successful. We also decided to pay in advance just to have the availability of a ticket refund in case something happens up to 5 days in advance. We'd be out-of-luck if we ended up getting stuck with tickets and no vacation :( It's also 1 less thing to forget to bring with us! BTW, $1000 left in a savings account (assuming a high savings interest rate like ING @ 3% APR) from Feb. to Nov. (calculated at 10 months) earns around $25 interest...which is also subject to income tax. $1000 in a savings account at a local bank (my local Commerce bank has an interest rate of .25% APR on their savings account!) for 10 months yields around $2 in interest...which is also subject to income tax. Just a mathematical FYI. :umbrella:
