Ticket Questions

I know I've seen this info before, but I'm wanting to make sense of it. Our trip is May 24-31. We are going to buy 7-day park hoppers. These were available on both Disney's site and GAT. Now, neither site has the 7-day hopper available. I realize I can buy a 6-day hopper and upgrade it for the cost, but was curious as to why they disappeared. Any ideas?

Also, GAT doesn't have two MM's anymore? That was a major selling point, but if they don't have two MM's anymore and the price is the same at Disney, it isn't any better of a deal, right?

Any other deals I should know about before buying? We are members at Costco, but we don't need a package.

We just want to buy our tickets in advance to get the best price.

I emailed GAT to ask. The reply said that Disneyland no longer sells 7 or 8 day passes. So if that's true, there will be no upgraded at the park. Disneyland's website only shows up to 6 days, too. GAT also no longer has the adults get in for kids price special.

I'm disappointed about this. I really wanted that 8 day pass!

I have an 8 day pass...was it just recently that they stopped selling them? We booked in November for the end of March.

I think you can still get 8 day passes with a package, but as far as buying them separately, Getaway Today is saying they no longer sell them and that is because Disney is no longer offering them.

Yes, but you can only trade them the day of use and one day at a time. So you can't trade 3 days on a WDW for a 3 day park hopper at DL, you'd have to trade the tickets each day.

Are you sure you wouldn't be able to add a day? I'm thinking you still could but most people don't buy tickets that last that long so they aren't selling them anymore. I'd contact Disney and ask about adding day.

Thanks for all the replies. That bums me out! We have seen them for sale for 7 and 8 days, and just didn't buy as we were waiting to spend the money until closer to the trip. I will see what Disney says about not selling them. I understand if they don't sell that style, but I would hope we could upgrade. It would really frustrate me to buy 6 days and then a single? Especially since I didn't just buy them about 2 weeks ago.

You just take them to the ticket booths or the gates I think. It's been years since I did this so I may be incorrect about taking them to the gates. Anyway, you show the WDW ticket and they take it and bring you a DL ticket, that's why I'm thinking you go to the gates. Parking, I can't remember, I think it's $12. We have parking on my AP so if/when we need to park we don't really pay attention.

If you are even thinking of doing this, check the cost of the Deluxe AP.

And if you're thinking of getting an AP, if they truly do not sell 7+ day hoppers anymore, come back and find out the best way to get that AP so you don't run into blockout date problems.

I'm going to email DL and see what they say. It wouldn't make sense for me to do a Premium AP -- about $50/more per person (5 people) and I know we won't be back within a year. However, we'll be there for 9 nights and I'd really like 8 day passes. Hopefully they'll have an idea for me.

BTW, the Deluxe AP would be affordable, but they're blacked out on the 2 Saturdays we're there, so that makes it worth no more than a 6 day pass.

You know, I don't know the answer to this one. I'm sorry, when we did this there was on DL, no DCA. I *think* you get hoppers but I don't know for sure.

I appreciate this. I wouldn't really do it - I just was frustrated by the situation. I called Walt Disney Travel Company, and I think I can buy 7-day hoppers from them. I realize that most people don't go for that long, but this is our chance to do DLR and we want to overindulge. I will let you know if I have more problems, and I'll ask questions too. You all are the best.

I am glad you posted this, I had been wondering the same thing. We are taking our 4 1/2 yr old, 2 1/2 yr old and 6 month old in November and really want the freedom of just being able to come and go from the park for the 7 days we are there. I am hoping closer to November they bring them back!

GAT has 8 day tickets (no 7) back up on their site. price difference is only $5 from 6 to 8 day.
Go buy them now!!

You know, that really irritates me. The email I got from Getaway Today when I asked about the 8 day tickets was snippy, and they said they would never have them in stock again. Yesterday, I called Walt Disney Travel and was able to order 8 day hoppers without a problem (I actually called the main ticket office and the nice lady on the phone told me they'd be cheaper through WDT... isn't that magical?). After that email I got, I wouldn't buy them through GAT anyway, even if I would have saved a few dollars.

I spoke with a CM at the Disneyland Travel office last week and she quoted me $224 for a 7 day child park hopper. She said we could purchase through her on the phone or at the main gate, but they don't have them for sale online anymore. We plan to purchase Deluxe AP's (they are only $25 more with our DVC discount) but the last day of our trip is a black out day. So my plan is to purchase 7 day park hoppers then upgrade to the AP on the last day (anytime during the day will work because you can purchase and use an AP on a blackout day). I don't really care what we pay for the 7 day as you have to pay the difference to upgrade to an AP no matter what your initial purchase price is.

We have a 7 day WDW park hopper from a trip we had to cancel so I was going to use that, but she said that while you can use the WDW pass at DL, you can't upgrade WDW tickets to a DL AP as their accounting/books are separate.

I'm going to wait until closer to our trip to purchase, however, in case our plans change. I purchased our WDW ticket early before the price increase, then had to cancel our plans so I'm stuck with it until our next WDW trip...
