Disney Super Pro trying out UOR for first time this summer. Wanting to do 2 days at UOR, 2 days at IOA and 1 day at VB. Which type of ticket should I get? Will be staying on property at a deluxe hotel so I will get Express Pass.

3 day 3 park so you can hop between all of them. Unlike Disney, it’s super easy to go between the 2 main parks (and Volcano Bay is easy too). You’ll want the park to park feature.
eta- sorry for misreading/miscounting! You want park to park for all your days. :) the AP is a great idea though

So 5 total park days? When in the summer? You have the option of buying a multi-day ticket or often an annual pass will be cheaper except you have to consider the blockout days. Seasonal passes are the cheapest but are blocked out of all parks the whole month of July. Power pass is the next level and is good for US and IOA all summer. Any AP will have blockouts at VB most of the summer, so perhaps a power AP and a separate single day VB ticket? An AP should get you a good discount on the resort also, but those rates aren't out yet. You have to run the numbers for the tickets and see what is best for you.

Yes, 5 total park days. Looking at going either late May or mid-June.

In that case it is likely the AP seasonal pass will probably be most economical. The 3 park VB blockouts start June 11, but if you are only going once a 2 park AP + VB ticket might be cheaper? That time of year the APH resort rates should be plentiful also, though savvy traveler rates might not be too bad either.

Is Hogwart's Express a must do?
Absolutely.

Beyond that though, like I suggested above, get park to parks. The parks are right there. Have you ever been to Disneyland? The parks are as close as those 2 are. From some tall rides, you can see into the other park. It would be maddening to be steps away but not able to go into the other park. Volcano Bay won't be a whole day activity so being able to go back to the main parks at night is nice too.

It's a must-do, if you're a Potter fan. If you don't care about HP, it's not a must-do, but it is well done and enjoyable. You're also there for 5 days, so it would be a tease to have two rides (it's different in each direction) that you can't access. UO has fewer rides than WDW, so don't eliminate two of them before you get to the park.

If you're used to WDW, you are probably overestimating the size and distances at UO. The parks are literally right next to each other. Sometimes there's a walking cut through open that allows you to park hop in less than 5 minutes. UO is very compact, and the premier hotels are very close. You will easily be able to go between the parks and your resort.

WDW rewards planners. UO is a more spontaneous experience. You don't need to make any ride reservations. If you're used to the old FP+ or the new Genie and lightening lane, UO might seem a bit strange. But trust us when we tell you that you'll want to be able to just go wherever you want whenever you want. Park hopping gives you the chance to ride your favorites everyday.

For a 4-5 day trip, the cost of a park-to-park ticket is not much more than a one-park-per-day tickets. And as others have mentioned, an AP can be about the same price. Plus, if you can snag a pass holder rate at the hotel, purchasing APs might be less expensive overall.
