ticket question

Ok, this may sound crazy, but can you use an adult ticket for a child under 10? I want to take my niece as a surprise for her 5th birthday, she has never been. And....I already have adult park hoppers, and IT is NOT in the budget to take her if I have to purchase tickets on top of everything else. My sister is divorced, and barely gets by as it is. Anyway, I am getting off subject.
Does Disney care if a child goes through the gate on an adult ticket???
