Ticket Question???

I've seen this before, but nothing lately to know if anything has changed. At DL you used to be able to turn in a parkhopper ticket from WDW that still had usable days left on it in exchange for a parkhopper ticket at DL for the same number of days you have left on the WDW hopper. Of course this info. was never really available on their website, and if you call Disney who knows what the CM would say (I've often found conflicting responses from the CMs on the phone).

Does anyone know if this is something DL still does? A friend of mine is going to WDW for ABC's Super Soap Weekend at MGM and it getting a 3 day hopper for the event. Her family is also planning a trip to DL less than 10 days after she gets back. If the WDW ticket can be exchanged for the DL ticket, it would be cheaper for her to get a 7 day non-expiration hopper at WDW than it would be to purchase a 3 day hopper for WDW AND a 4 day hopper at DL.

So... any current first-hand knowledge of how DL handles WDW tickets?

You can still do this, I am fairly certain though that she will need to exchange the tickets on a day-by-day basis... kind of like an AP blockout pass where you need to do it on the day of entry, so she will probably have to go to the ticket booth each morning to make the exchange... I have never done it, just have heard about the process so I could be wrong about them only exchanging one day at a time.

Thanks for the info. BTW... what are the odds, another Wendy (even if you spell your's with and i), both from Northern CA, and both going to DL for Thanksgiving!

Wow, we're really close too, we live in Davis! What days will you be there? We'll be there Monday 11/19 through Friday 11/23, at least I think we're going to add Friday - I had originally planned to just stay through Thursday, but we might end up in Carlsbad at Legoland on Friday.

How is this??? We used to live in Davis! Moved to EG in 1990, and been here ever since. Do you work in town too, or just love the area? We really liked it, but at the time we could not afford to buy a house there, so we moved to EG. Now we love it here too!

We will be in the parks the 18th - 22nd. Our younger two boys are off track at school, and the oldest will miss 2 days of school for the trip. He'll survive though - he's a hard worker and will likely have the work done before we even leave town. We do Thanksgiving in DL almost every year, and LOVE it! The day after Thanksgiving the parks are pure NUTS! Think long summer time lines full of people...

We did Legoland one year on the day after Thanksgiving. It was busy, but not crazy. The kids were really bothered by having to wait in lines after having several days of fastpass experiences at DL (plus the crowd at Legoland was not as friendly as at DL). It is a fun place to visit though.

One year we tried to drive home on that Friday and it took us almost 4 hours just to get to Magic Mountain from DL. This year we are flying home on that Friday - I know, bad airport crowds... We'll risk it... maybe we will get bumped and get a free flight somewhere!

I work and go to school at UC Davis (this is my first quarter of school, but I've worked at the VMTH for about 5 years).

Max is out of school for the week of Thanksgiving, I only get Thursday and Friday off but I figured it wouldn't kill me to take M-W off too! We went last year during the same week.

I am actually reconsidering the side trip to Legoland... it just seems like a little much for this trip, I would do it in a flash if we were driving down, but I don't really want to deal with renting a car, getting another hotel room, and either doing the rental car as a one-way and trying to figure out the logistics of where to pick up and turn in (not to mention the expense of a one-way rental) or drive all the way back just to fly back home. Just seems like too much trouble and too much money... maybe next time!

You do have to exchange the tickets daily, but it's done at the gate and not at the ticket booth. They cannot help you at the ticket booth. Tell the CM at the gate that you have a WDW ticket. They'll have you stand to the side while they call another CM that will come and take you ticket to scan it somewhere and remove a day from it. The gate CM will then give you another ticket to use as your DL ticket for the day in the fastpass machines.

WDTC phone rep. just said that "as of this year, this has been discontinued. WDW tickets will now only be good at WDW."

Using Walt Disney World Tickets at Disneyland

Interesting, unpublished fact: you can use any unexpired, leftover days on a Walt Disney World ticket at Disneyland or DCA! Present the Disney World ticket at the gate on arrival -- they will take it somewhere, deduct a day from it, and give you a one-day Disneyland and/or DCA ticket. You can repeat this day by day until the Disney World ticket is used up. They will not give you a multi-day ticket all at once, even if you have multiple days left on your Disney World ticket. Also, MouseSavers.com reader Danny P notes that any Disneyland ticket obtained from exchanging a Walt Disney World ticket must be used on the same day it was exchanged.

The type of Disneyland ticket you will receive is based on the Walt Disney World ticket you present: if you have a Disney World ticket with the Hopper option, you will get a Disneyland Hopper that allows you to visit both parks in the same day; on the other hand, if the Disney World ticket had no Hopper option, you will get a one-day/one-park ticket and will have to pick which park to enter that day.

This policy has been in effect for at least 5 years, and the information was last reconfirmed by a MouseSavers.com reader as of August 2007.

Disneyland tickets are NOT accepted at Walt Disney World, and Annual Passes are only good at the park where they were purchased (WDW Annual Passes are NOT good at Disneyland, and vice versa).

No one on the phone at Disney has EVER been willing to confirm this, yet it has been going on for years. Frankly I don't think the phone reps are in a position to know anything about gate policies. I doubt the policy has changed.
