ticket question

I am looking at the 1 park 1 day option for Universal on their website. If I buy that then decide not to go do those tickets ever expire? I know for sure my dh and ds8 will go to Universal so I will get them the deal that is in the uk section. But for me and my 2 girls (they will be 1 and 3 when we go) I dont know if we will do it this year. That might be the day where I let them realx and take it easy at the house we rented. I want to buy our tickets just in case we go but to be on the safe side I want to get tickets that wont expire. Its really hard to make real plans with kids this young.
