Ticket question for combined offsite/onsite visit

I read through the ticket sticky and couldn't find anything specific to my question and I'm still a bit unclear.

If I'm planning a combined visit that would be 7 days offsite followed immediately by 5 onsite, what are my options for park ticketing? If I book my onsite as room only, I assume I can just buy a MYW ticket (up to 10 days in duration) and I would be able to use that ticket starting during my offsite days and carry it through my onsite days. Is that correct? And what if I do a package for my onsite days, can I extend the park pass and have it begin before I check-in during my offsite days?

I understand the part about the tickets expiring 14 days after the first use, but I'm unclear if/how I can use the same ticket for a combined onsite/offsite stay.

Thanks for the help. I'm considering doing a combined visit like this next year and trying to figure out the best way to handle the ticketing.

Yes this is correct. It just means that during your on-site stay, you would continute to use your MYW ticket instead of your KTTW card to enter the park and get FPs. Unless when you get to your resort they can put the remainder of the days on the card, but I have not kept up with whether they do that or not.

I do not think you could extend your passes that much in advance of your stay on-site and pick them up that early. Someone else will probably be along to help with that.

Any MYW ticket is valid for 14 days from date of first use or until all entitlements are used up, whichever comes first, unless the No Expire Option is purchased in which case it is valid until all entitlements are used.

If you have a split stay, partially on-site and partially off-site, the same rules apply.

However, if the off-site stay is first and your on-site stay is a package which includes at least room and tickets, you are able to get your tickets up to three days early, but no other part of the package. This means that if your on-site stay begins on a Sunday you can get only your tickets in advance on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. On Sunday you can then check in and get the rest of your package.

See Post 15-I of the sticky for more information.

I would look in an annual pass. Deb's AllEars has a breakdown on how to see if an AP would work for you: http://allears.net/pl/breakeven.php

It looks like you will be at WDW for 12 days. The longest ticket offered is a 10-day ticket, so if you wanted to do something every day you would have to add the Water Parks & More option for your other 2 days. A 10-day PH with water parks costs $422 per person and an AP is $611. You will have to pay $14 per day for parking, or $98 in parking for your first 7 days, so the difference between a 10-day PH w/WP&M and a regular AP (no waterparks, but free parking) would be only $91. You were just at WDW in August and you have already planned another trip. Do you think you would have another trip within 365 days of your next one? You could use your AP for 2 trips and really make it work for you.

Thanks for the info!

Interesting info on the AP option and something I never even thought about. Not sure it would work for us, but good info none the less. If I were to do a 12 - 14 day trip with split stay, I would still probably only do 7 or 8 days at WDW and use the other days for other area attractions. My preference would be to spread out the Disney days though, which is what prompted my original question.

I'm not even sure I'll go next year at all, just starting to think about it. I love WDW and would go in a heartbeat. My DS4 is already talking about "next time". DH on the other hand, would rather never go again, so in there lays the challenge.

All I can say is the 35% off PIN I got is doing just as Disney Marketing intended and has me seriously considering :rotfl:
