Ticket prices going up?

I can't remember! If I already have booked a vacation package when the tickets go up will our price on our package go up or are we grandfathered in?

The only times they will adjust the price of a package are if you make changes or if the tax rate changes.

Who thinks about ticket prices when going to Disney? The demand of Disney is relatively inelastic. They could double their prices and lose nowhere near half their patrons.

Now, luxury non-essential items like the Dining Plan are another story. Removing "gratuities included" from the Dining Plan was a huge mistake IMO. We will never pay for the Dining Plan again. That adds a lot of money each meal. We'll still do the dining/reservations, just pay for each one we use.

I disagree. Check out some of the other boards you may find price does matter to many. The budget board, the disney for families board all have threads with the challenges of the current price.

Price doesn't matter to some, including my family. But it does matter to many. We have taken some families with us to Disney that wouldn't be able to go without our assistance. I know of other families that want to go but look at the price of tickets and everything else and decide Disney will never be for them.

Also, some families will go to Orlando and visit Universal, or Seaworld or Busch Gardens because access to those theme parks are much, much cheaper.

I believe Disney is aware of these, and other, limitations and will not put themselves in a position where their theme park prices are a matter of great contention.

One other comment about ticket prices. At risk of sounding like a Disney shill, higher prices could actually be a GOOD thing.

Particularly over the last year, folks have been pretty vocal in complaining about crowds in the parks. Well, the easiest way to fix that is to charge more for admission. Lower prices encourages visits while higher prices discourages visits.

I'm sure those with less flexible budgets will be disappointed if they get squeezed out by higher prices, but that's the most direct way to appease those who want to see fewer people in the parks.
