Ticket Prices Going Up on Sunday!

Unless I'm figuring something wrong, it appears to me that the price for me to buy 4 day park hopper tickets with the water park option will actually go down on Sunday. We are DVC and are staying at BLT in July. I haven't purchased our park tickets yet, but I've had everything figured for quite some time. If I'm not mistaken, a 4 day hopper with water park would cost us $375 and some change with taxes. When I look at the new prices that are coming out on Sunday, I get a total of $360 and some change for the same thing.

I did read somewhere that they were offering deals on the 3 and 4 day tickets, so maybe the new prices reflect that. Does anyone know?

All I could figure out is that currently, it costs more to add both the hopper and water park. With the new figures, it's $79 to add both which is less than what it is now. It's driving me nuts, so someone please tell me if I'm wrong on this.:rotfl:

Interesting post by Cheshire Figment (our resident ticket expert) on the TPAS board:
There are still discounted prices for AP renewals, and there is still special pricing for DVC and Florida Residents. The ticket sticky will be updated shortly.

Also there is a change in upgrade procedures. If a ticket was full gate price prior to a price increase the difference will not be bridged. However, if the ticket was purchased other than at WDW the price difference will still be bridged.

And an interesting note is that a water park annual pass is less than the cost of two one-day water park tickets.
If I'm reading this correctly, Disney will no longer apply the gate value of tickets to upgrades if the tickets were purchased from Disney (like leftover passes from free dining packages). But tickets purchased from resellers like Undercovertourist will be "bridged" to the gate value before upgrading.

If I'm correct, a lot of people who book free dining with the minimum number of days and then upgrade those tickets on later visits will no longer see those tickets valued at the gate price. This will really make some of you re-think your free dining packages.

I just called a CM.... actually 2 as they were just handed the info today- ANYONE CURRENTLY BOOKED WITH A PACKAGE the price will NOT go up even if you call to add a PIN, like FD or make a ticket change.... she double checked.

What does this mean? What does gate price mean? Im not trying to sound dumb but I have FD.... if I want to add days later, a CM told me they will stay the same price....is she wrong?

DH and I were hoping to get annual passes this year but we are not arriving at DW until August 16th. Does anyone know if I can purchase the tickets now at the lower rate and still be able to pick them up in August?

TIA

We are also arriving August 16th and were hoping to get AP's. To answer your question, yes you can. I just purchased ours about 20 minutes ago.

Didnt they make packages avail for 2012 last year when the tix price went up?
I am going to give it a whirl on Sunday to book 2013. Cant hurt ;)

if one used the LINK for mousesavers today, friday or on weekend before increase, it says that after 2pm Friday, the sale is effective MONDAY (the next business day) so I guess too late to save??? :confused3 I passed on it...

It's complicated, so I hope that I can explain it well enough. And again, this is how I'm reading CF's post.

Let's say you got 2-day tickets last year when you bought a free dining package but for whatever reason (perhaps you already had tickets or an AP), you didn't use those 2-day tickets during that visit. They sat in a drawer until a future visit when you decided you wanted to upgrade them to 5-day hoppers.

In the past, it would have cost you the difference the current gate price of a 2-day ticket and a 5-day hopper if you used that 2-day ticket once before upgrading it. You also had to perform that upgrade within 14 days of when it was first used. The act of converting that 2-day ticket's value to the current gate price is referred to as "bridging".

Now, it appears that those tickets will no longer be "bridged" prior to performing the upgrade if the tickets were purchased from Disney. The consequences would mean that a 2-day MYW base pass purchased from Disney today for the price of ~$179 w/tax would not be bridged to the new gate price of ~$187 prior to performing the upgrade.

It's not a lot of money when you look at just one 2-day pass (~$8 per ticket). But imagine that instead, you're looking at a 10-day MYW hopper which has a current gate price of ~$368. The new gate price of that same ticket will be ~$399 after Sunday. If you wanted to upgrade that ticket to an AP, the value no longer gets "bridged" to $399. It remains at $368 and that's the amount that you will get credited towards the upgrade to the AP.

But if you purchased that same ticket from Undercovertourist right now, you'll pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $355 for the ticket. If you were to take that ticket to be upgraded after Sunday, Disney will still bridge that ticket to the current gate value (~$399) prior to doing the upgrade.

Confused? Me too! And I'm not even sure if this is what CF meant with his post.

Now as far as your free dining tickets are concerned, I believe that since you will not be getting your actual tickets until you check in, you will receive passes that have the new gate price coded into them even though you are locked into your package at the old pricing.

Last year the ticket price increase went into effect on June 12. The 2012 room rates and packages were announced on June 14.

I love how they announce the ticket increase two days before...

We had to buy our APs tonight so we didn't have to pay the extra $100 total for both of us.

But that's what happens when they add new things I guess.

Hey, at least your increase is only 7%-15%, at Disneyland we only got two days notice for a 30% increase!

Some say it's because of Carsland, well, I don't buy into that, you guys have Fantasyland, so I think the increases should have been equal (to yours, not ours).

Maybe WDW tickets will see a huge increase in price when Fantasyland is complete? Not that I'm hoping for that ... but, if I remember correctly, Universal ticket prices went way up when HP opened.

If that chart is correct, yes, any ticket with park hopper and water parks options will be LESS with the new prices. It looks like they are giving a discount if you purchase both options ($79 for both versus $57 for one or the other)

I don't understand what you wrote. It is not too late to buy tickets at the pre-increase prices!

Can you explain better what you mean? I'd be happy to try and help if you are confused, as would others here, I'm sure.

Well I guess it is time to stop procratinating and buy our tickets. I was hoping to hold out and get a military discount through my father on-site.
Anyway, we are in Orlando for up to 10 days, so I was thinking of getting a 7 day PH pass, and then adding as many days as we need during the visit.
It appears the best price savings will be to get the UT 6 day PH, vs a 7day PH , based on the links to UT and Disney provided in the Mousesavers email

Am I correct that I should only have to pay $10/day to add days to our tickets in July?

Yep, that's correct. The cost of the combined Park Hopper and Water Parks options has dropped from $110 + tax to $79 + tax. Even with increases in the base ticket prices, most (but not all) of the tickets that have both options added have DROPPED in price. I know, that's not a word you associate with Disney very often! :rotfl2:

If you add the combo and also add No Expiration, on tickets of 5 days or longer the No Exp went up so much that it erases the savings on the combo. So not all tickets with the combo are going down in price. Confusing, right?

If you only add one option (Park Hopper OR Water Parks), the price is going up from $55 to $57 (+ tax). It's only the combo that is going down.

Annual pass vouchers - how long do you have to redeem them? I read up to one year and I read no limit. I am considering buying 2 for my kids, who are turning 8 this month. I guess as long as they are still 9 or under at the time we convert them at Disney Parks, it should be no problem.

Does anyone know if you purchase the Annual Pass voucher and decide not to use them are they refundable and of so how long??

Good grief. I haven't even sat down to run the numbers yet, and my brain already hurts.:headache:

How sure is anyone that Disney will release Free Dining for December? Right now I have two rooms booked as room only, but I would want to switch to a package if Free Dining comes out. If it doesn't, I would just stick with the room only, as AAA is saving me a little bit there.

Not sure if it would make any sense to change the reservation to a package now, in the hopes of getting Free Dining, and then change it back if Free Dining doesn't come out.:confused3

Ticket purchases are non-refundable. But you're correct that the vouchers never expire.

Another thing to note: Child APs will be the same price as adult APs after Sunday. So you have an even bigger incentive to purchase their AP vouchers now instead of waiting.

No one knows for sure whether there will be free dining in December. You just have to roll the dice and pray. If you book a package now, your tickets will be at the current rate. If you wait until tomorrow, they will be at the new price. You need to break out the calculator and do some serious number crunching before it's too late. Get out the Excedrin.
