Is the mouse savers link to UT cheaper than the UT direct price? UT direct (just going straight to the website) shows adult 7-day park hopper at $419.

Without requoting your entire article -- Good summary.
I don't find it shocking Disney raises the prices. We have to remember that while the cost of US buying things goes up .. so does the cost of Disney doing business. They just don't charge more for food .. they charge more for food because it costs them more to get the food. They charge more in ticket prices because they have to pay their employees more (either in pay or benefits) . .etc. etc.
Sure .. is it shocking to know that prices were X 10 years ago? Sure. But just think about everything else in your life (that is or isn't a luxury) whose price has changed since 2007 .. it just isn't as blatantly advertised (and thus we don't get as upset about it).
If a $5/per day increase makes or breaks whether your family goes to WDW, then maybe you need to look at other vacation options, because that means maybe you were too stretched to begin with.
My overall point is .. you can offset the $5 increase by just doing less. If you want to make a Disney vacation affordable for your family ... Then you can probably save more than the price increase by simply going one less day (you can probably save hundreds of dollars in hotel/tickets and food by simply going one less day). Yes .. there are some people who can afford 14 day vacations, but that doesn't mean your family can't have fun with a 3 day vacation to WDW (trust me .. I've done it for several years now).
I don't know what Disney's goals are, but it just feels that they are raising the base price to make the multi-day options look more and more appealing. But with the ticket and hotel prices, I think that people may just end up going less. *shrug*.
Undercover Tourist has 4 day Magic Your Way plus "ONE FREE DAY" however it's the same exact price as their 5 day ticket so what am I not getting - how is it one day free then?
Because that one day is also "free" on the regular 5-day ticket.Undercover Tourist has 4 day Magic Your Way plus "ONE FREE DAY" however it's the same exact price as their 5 day ticket so what am I not getting - how is it one day free then?

Sorry if my comments sounded flippant or as direct attack. That was not my intention. I am just being a realist.Unfortunately, I would say you're being a bit naive here, with Disney's increased costs. I understand wanting to give the benefit of the doubt but.... The huge increase in cost of food that they're charging is well above the rise in food costs. They also are notorious for paying their employees very little - and I can promise you that their increased in costs are not because of a large jump in employee salary costs. Their large increase in costs are primarily due to other reasons, not the least of which is decreasing stocks, ESPN, having to bail out other parks, building other parks, decreasing attendance etc...
As for your judgement that if a $200-300 increase breaks you, then you were over stretched, that's not really for you to say, is it? Because you don't know everyone's financial states. Almost everyone has a "maximum" that they can pay for a vacation, and the line has to be drawn somewhere. There's also just the principal end of things, that to some people, they have a limit on what they feel the trip is worth, and again, once you go past that line....
What are Disney's goals? It's a for profit corporation, it's goal is to make profits. Why is it raising prices? Because it can, as long as demand holds up it will continue to raise prices. At some point it will have priced itself out of the reach of enough families to where its prices will track the general rate of inflation.
I get the idea that there are some that think that Disney Corp. is somehow a benevolent organization. It's a for profit business that seeks to optimize value for its shareholders and compensation for its senior management, just like any other corporation, and the more money it can charge for its services the more that end is served. Don't expect that to change.
It will change if the price increases get to the tipping point and people start going less or not go at all anymore.
I look at football games and music concerts. Tickets to those events are astronomical (even compared to a Disney ticket) for a 2-3 hour experience (sometimes with poor seats). Those things keep raising prices, yet there are people out there (not your "average" family though) that are still willing to pay those prices .. so they continue to go up.
@Robo Can you answer this? Am I understanding this right:
1. If I bought 10 day tickets, but only used 5 days before the Dec 31/18/14 day expiry, I would be able to trade the remaining 5 days in (so to speak) for a new set of 5 day tickets, by paying the difference in cost?
2. Or can you only upgrade tickets that haven't been partially used?
I just got an email from Kenny the Pirate about this issue. Only unused tickets that have expired can be brought back to life. Any partially used tickets will expire 14 days after first use.
UPDATE: “All tickets purchased from February 12, 2017 through the end of the year will expire December 31, 2018. Any UNUSED ticket that does expire may be applied toward the purchase of a new ticket of equal or greater value.
There will not be an option to roll over partially USED tickets to future trips. Those tickets will continue to expire completely 14 days after first usage.”

I just look at things differently. I feel anyone can afford anything (at least once) IF they feel that the cost is worth the value to their family.
If prices go up at Disney .. then cut cable for a few months, go out to eat less, etc. etc.
I just think there are always things people can do to save money to make money available for something important to them (like a Disney vacation). I was just trying to help people realize that while prices have gone up . .it isn't necessarily the end of the world.
Sure, price increase SUCK, but if Disney is pricing people out of a vacation, then that may simply be the reality. Less people going will send more of a message to Disney then complaining about it on boards like this. Like the poster below states . .they aren't a benevolent organization. They charge what they THINK people will pay, and thus far it seems like enough people are willing to pay.

I am sure Universal is drooling at the opportunity to "poach" Disney vacationers. Look at how much they've added to their parks in the last 5 years compared to Disney.
If it's posted here I can't find it...
Any word on Florida resident AP renewal pricing?? Specifically the Silver Pass?
Thanks
MG
Has anyone been able to find the new AP renewal prices? I only see new AP costs. Thanks.

With the new prices, does anyone know what the new cost is to renew an AP? Just curious how much that has gone up. Thx.
From what source (and WHEN) did you purchase the 6-day Hopper?
God I hope not!!! That would mean the Silver Pass renewal went up $95 from $351 to $446 (including tax).BTW it looks like the prices listed are the renewal prices, because when I click to renew my pass, the price (without tax) is the same as in the list: Platinum Plus $769, Platinum $679, Gold $559, Water Parks $125.
I just finished catching up on this thread, and I don't think I saw an answer to y'all's questions.
I found the AP renewal prices on the MDE website under Parks & Tickets -- Annual Passes. At the top of the list of passes it says "Keep making magical memories. Renew now and save!" and next to that is a link to "renew your pass." Of course I was signed in, so the website knows what AP I have and what my affiliations are - not sure whether that makes a difference in what I see vs. what you would see!

Yep, I signed out of MDE and opened the WDW website, which lists prices for new APs as Platinum Plus $869 and Platinum $779. I don't know what the price for a new Gold Pass is, because I have to sign in and then it gives just the renewal price again, and the DVC website hasn't been updated with new prices yet.
I bought 2 adult and one child. Thanks to your post I called UT and cancelled my order then went back in and bought 4 day 3 free park hoppers for a total savings over disney of about 340 total. Thank you!Is the mouse savers link to UT cheaper than the UT direct price? UT direct (just going straight to the website) shows adult 7-day park hopper at $419.
So, I was thinking of upgrading my 6 day hopper for my April sister trip to an AP when I get there, to hopefully save on a family trip within the year...not sure yet if I will yet since I can't nail down a date for a trip before it would expire. So, from what I have read, it will cost me about $30 more to do this, yes?
Thanks to everyone taking the time to sort through these questions and such...
Purchased directly from Disney, part of a package with a free day (buy 4 days, get one free type of thing), purchased in December....
