Ticket prices expected to go up Sunday

Thanks for the reply! We are going in Oct and have not purchased our tickets yet. I was just wondering if it was worth it to purchase this week or not. Thanks again!

We're going in October too and I just bought my tix -- in anticipation of the price increase -- on the new Disneyland.com site last night.

Well today is Wednesday and Disney hasn't released anything officially about ticket price increase. Hopefully they will release some prices tomorrow or friday:surfweb:

*Maybe* they won't raise prices;)

That would be awesome if they didn’t! and this was all a hoax!! My cousin is flying in from finland in like 2 weeks and she wants to go DLR with me, that includes DCA (duh!) and I am afraid that if this infamous price increase does happen we wont be able to park hop and she wont be able to see WOC!!!!! :scared1:

I wouldn't expect to see any type of announcement until late Friday. In all honesty, I don't see why they should/would make any type of announcement in advance.

Looks like lots of you are Disneyland ticket experts . . . I've got a question that y'all might be able to answer . . .

I've got a trip planned for November. I understand it is likely that the price of tickets will go up soon, but I've kinda been holding out for some sort of deal, like everyone plays at the kids' price, or the buy 3 get 5 deal they are running now. Am I hoping for something that doesn't generally happen? Is Oct/Nov/December usually void of ticket deals?

I'm also in the market for some tickets for next summer. When will those tickets go on sale? And, can I count on specially priced tickets for next July? If so, when would those be announced?

Thanks!

Ooh! Another ticket question . . .

At WDW you can upgrade a ticket from the value of the ticket, not the price you paid. So, if I purchased a 3 day park hopper before my trip at $184, and then decided on my trip that I wanted to upgrade to a 4 day park hopper that maybe goes up to (just guessing) $239, do I pay $239 minus $184 (what I actually paid) or $239 minus whatever the price is on that day for a 3 day park hopper?

Thanks!

You will not likely find any specials for the period between Oct - December as this one of the busiest times of the year.

Tickets for July will likely be on sale the beginning of January (and will be good for 1 year). As for special pricing it won't be until April or so that summer specials (if there are any) would be announced.

There was discussion on Miceage (?) about there not being as many ticket specials in the coming year.

If you decide to upgrade they will apply the price you paid against the current gate price. If you think you want to go 4 days you are better of spending the extra $15 now vs paying $45 at the parks.

Advance Sale 3 day $184
Advance Sale 4 day $199
Gate Price 4 day $229

mom2dzb, one of the differences between DLR and WDW is that DLR does NOT "bridge" the price. Your ticket's upgrade value is exactly what you paid for it.

Well I finally to the plunge at bought a PAP today :cool1:
I still have to buy 6 day park hoppers for the rest of my family. I plan on waiting till tomorrow to see if disney release the prices:surfweb: I just thought that the AP may go up more than the 6 day tickets would:confused3
I guess will find out in the next few days:surfweb:

P.S I printed out my PAP and the experation to redeem is Jan 03,2011

I would have ordered online but we own DVC, so I want my $20 discount. It's not much, but I can't be sure that the price will go up on the first. I'm just hoping that the PAP doesn't go up more than $20.

So can I buy 3 day hoppers online now and not activate them until September?

But in 2008 and 2009 the prices went up in August, and I guess that is what's to be expected from here on out. To me, August seems like an odd time to raise them - it seems like it would make much more sense to do it at the very beginning of a year, or even at the very end of a year. I could be totally mistaken, but wasn't it believed that the reason for an August price hike had something to do with the fact that it is the end of a particular quarter or fiscal year for Disney?

They increases have come in August mainly because it's just before they start allowing resort reservations for the coming year. That way they are able to start booking at the increased rates & ticket prices at the same time vs. having reservations skewed between just increased room rates but not increased ticket prices. And they tend to do both resorts (DL & WDW) in tandem now vs. doing them at separate times as they had done in years past.

Anyone think Disney will officially announce the price increase before Sunday?

I was just about to purchase our tickets on line for December and then I thought that maybe I would wait till friday to see if any prices are released:surfweb:

Typically, like so many other bits of news they try to bury, they wait to say anything official until the end of the news "day" on Friday with the increases going into effect on Sunday. Thankfully Mousesavers does try to inform as many people as possible.

I am starting to doubt this “ticket increase” rumor.. I have not read anything yet, I can’t find anything about it on any Disneyland website…..

:hourglass

The increase in ticket price is pure speculation at this time. Anymore, everyone wants to be the first to release "breaking news" so a few sites have put it out there that ticket prices will be going up in August. People are assuming that because its increased the past two years in August, it will increase in August this year. And while it's a definite possibility, nothing is set in stone yet and this is pure speculation on their part and the only thing its done to this point is cause hysteria on message boards from people trying to figure out if/when to buy park tickets.

Historically, here's when they've raised the prices on tickets:

Nov 2000
Mar 2002
Jan 2003
Mar 2004
Jan 2005
Jun 2005
Jan 2006
Sep 2006
Sep 2007
Aug 2008
Aug 2009

Disney will usually have a press release and then the tickets likely go up a day or two later. Just keep your eyes peeled (I'm sure it will be reported here) for it and at that point, run out and buy your tickets.

But... but... we're good at speculation and hysteria here. It's sort of a past-time.
