Ticket prices expected to go up Sunday

I just wish my November trip was set in stone. If it were I would buy the tickets now but since it could very well not happen....BUMMER!

Okay, so Kristin, you confirmed what I thought I remembered - that the PAPs went up another $10 early this year. (Good to know I am not totally off my rocker!:rotfl2:) Thank you for that! I recall thinking that was an odd amount to raise them - it seemed too low to be a real annual increase by Disney standards. In a weird way, it almost seemed like a bit of an afterthought - as though, after August 2009, when the PAPs went from $389 to $429, DLR officials suddenly reconsidered the price and said to each other in a meeting, "We really should have raised the PAP by $50 instead of $40." And hence, they added on that little $10 increase early this year! I don't know if it was an afterthought, but it seemed a bit like it.

Since I only paid attention to the PAP increase (since that was the one I was going to renew - IF I renew), I didn't notice - did they also raise the DAP price and the two SoCal AP prices early this year? I know they all went up last year in August, but when the PAP got the extra $10 tacked onto it in early 2010, did all the other AP levels get extra added on as well?

I still think there will be increases in price on all AP levels when the Hoppers go up next week (assuming that's correct). But maybe they will be minor increases - like another $10 here, another $10 there - and then maybe more increases in January or something. Either way - whether they do or don't raise the APs again this year - here is a scary thought:

What will the AP prices be after all the work at DCA is finished in 2012?:scared1::scared1: How long before we see a $500 price for the PAP? It's coming - you know it is. But when? All in all, it will still be a really good deal, being able to have that much access to DLR for so many days in a year and getting the various discounts. It's just the initial sticker shock that I'll have to get past!!

All the APs went up again earlier this year.

They did? Okay, thanks! I couldn't recall anyone talking about the other APs going up this year. Since the PAP went up by $10, did they all go up by another $10 early this year or was it just by a few bucks?

I know the DAP went up by $10. I'm not sure how much the socal passes went up by, but I know they increased too.

But in 2008 and 2009 the prices went up in August, and I guess that is what's to be expected from here on out. To me, August seems like an odd time to raise them - it seems like it would make much more sense to do it at the very beginning of a year, or even at the very end of a year. I could be totally mistaken, but wasn't it believed that the reason for an August price hike had something to do with the fact that it is the end of a particular quarter or fiscal year for Disney?

Makes perfect sense to me. The new prices kick in just in time for the holiday switch. Many (most?) of the Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas people won't buy their tickets until after the prices go up. I believe another common price hike time has historically been a few months before the start of the summer season. Just before families start booking their summer vacations.

It amazes me that Disney continues to raise the prices when the economy is still in the dump. They are making it harder and harder for people to go.

And the people who have to wait for their actual trip to buy their AP's because of the GAD promo kind of get screwed.

People with GAD vouchers are probably fine. If the cost of tickets goes up, the value of the GAD voucher goes up (it's equal to a 1 day pass). You might even end up ahead- if park hoppers increase and APs stay the same.

You are right, I didn't even think about that. Thank you!

Does anyone know how much Park Hoppers went up this time last year?

One day passes went up (1 park/day and 1 day PH) $3
2 Days went up $8
Every other PH went up $5

SoCal Select up $10
SoCal and DAPs up $20
PAPs up $40

Anyone think Disney will officially announce the price increase before Sunday?

I was just about to purchase our tickets on line for December and then I thought that maybe I would wait till friday to see if any prices are released:surfweb:

Thanks for the reply! We are going in Oct and have not purchased our tickets yet. I was just wondering if it was worth it to purchase this week or not. Thanks again!

I hope so!

i don't know who is telling people that AP's are not going ot increase with the ticket increase on sunday, but that is wrong. when tickets increase so do the AP's...and park hoppers etc, i just needed to say this cause i keep reading this through out the boards....

I think so too, Funball. I think Disney will take any opportunity they have to raise the AP rates even a lilttle. I think what threw some folks off was the fact that the AP prices were raised last year in August and again at the beginning of this year. That's twice in less than a year, so it probably made people wonder if the rates would go up again so soon. I'm guessing that this means DLR will raise them again by next week, but it may be less of an increase than it would have been if they had not raised them early this year.

Of course, I could be totally wrong but it's just what I'm guessing will happen.

The last two years, the price of all the tickets increased in August and I would assume that all the tickets and AP will increase in price too. But the one I am curious the most is the premier pass. I am planning on upgrading my DL PAP to the premier before I go to WDW in December and wondering how much more the premier will be when all the parks tickets increase the prices. The current price for the premier is $700 and I am wondering how much will the premier be when they increase the price or will they keep it the same price? (probably not) :confused3

but its a true fact that when tickets rise so do Ap's and well everything else with it, park hoppers etc..so if anyone thinks that an AP prices are not going to rise you are surely mistaken! and i remember when it happend twice in one year... i could not believe it
