Ticket Price w/ GAD voucher?

I took my happy self (we weren't planning on going this year until I happened to talk DH in to volunteering and then happened to show him everything I could about MNSHHP & F&W Festival) over to the WDW website. I priced out 4-day tickets and then just substracted the cost of a 1-day ticket (our voucher) then went on my merry way.

But, I realized last night "D'oh! WDW tickets aren't really priced by individual day, but by the amount of days you purchase" (aka the more you buy, the less the ticket.)

So, I know my math is all kinds of wrong.

I'm just trying to figure out how much it is going to cost to take our vouchers (just DH and myself) and upgrade so we have 4 more park days (no park hopper and no water-park options.)

Help, please!

TIA!

They take the price of a one day ticket off your total of a multi day ticket.

If you use it for park entry, you can then take that one day pass (which is the full ticket price - I beleive $79) and then upgrade that ticket to a multi day ticket, and only pay the price difference.

So YES, you do get the full individual day price for that ticket when upgrading.

If I am reading your post correctly, you want to end up with a 5-day base MYW ticket for each of you. Gate price for a 5-day base ticket is $242.82 for adults, including tax. If you enter the first day with your GAD ticket and upgrade, you will pay $158.68 per adult out of pocket (you get credit of $79 pre-tax or $84.14 after tax for each GAD voucher).

That is exactly what I was asking. Thank you!

My question is, if we want to purchase 6-day park hoppers and we have both a GAD voucher and an unused 1-day ticket from Aug 2009, can we apply both? In other words, would we get the cash equivalent of both applied against the cost of the 6-day park hoppers? Or would we be better off upgrading to APs? Thanks!

No, you can't combine the tickets into a single ticket. An upgrade is only 1 ticket + cash > new ticket. You'd be better off saving the existing 1-day tickets for another future trip.

As for upgrading to APs, we'll, that depends on your ticket needs for the next year, and still doesn't change whether you can apply both tickets to an upgrade.

Another question- Can I up grade my GAD ticket once used to a 3day park hopper with option ticket with no expiration? If I do that can I then hop to another park on the day I use the GAD ticket? Then I will have 3 day left with options.

By "option" are you referring to the Water Parks Fun & More option?

In any case, yes, you can upgrade it to any ticket or pass for which you are eligible. And then you can use any feature of that ticket - so yes, you can park hop in the same day.

However, if you upgrade to a 3-day park hopper, you will only have 2 days left because you've already used a day. You want a 4-day ticket (which is $6+tax more).

Does anyone know how much it is to add a water option on to the GAD ticket? Or to add a hopper to GAD ticket?

Thanks, I must have read the chart wrong- I was hoping it was only 26.00.

OP.... I don't want to hijack your thread but just would like to ask a quick question and hope you don't mind.

After we use our GAD for the one day to enter the park (MK), where do we go inside the park to upgrade to the 7 day water parks and more tickets? Then... can we have them put on our hotel keys once we return to our resort?

Thanks!

Some ticket options have a cheaper option cost, but they are usually only for special groups. MYW options are $52.

You can generally go to the inside guest relations, but you can do it at any ticket booth any time before you need the upgraded ticket.

The resort concierge can put the ticket entitlement on your KTTW card,a as long as there isn't one on it already (like with a package ticket), and the the ticket isn't an annual pass.

Before I found this thread, I had called WDW ticket office and was told that my GAD voucher could not be upgraded to a multi-day ticket, it had to be used as just a one day ticket only. Can someone confirm that they were able to upgrade recently? Thank you so much for your help.

Many, many, many people have upgraded.

The CMs who answer the phones don't do upgrades. They have no idea what can be done or how.

The CMs at the parks do the upgrades. They know what can and can't be done and how (usually...)

Our very own Cheshire Figment is a ticketing CM at the parks, and his ticket sticky at the top of this forum covers it all.

Yes, you CAN upgrade it. You can only redeem the GAD voucher for the ticket, but after you have used it you can upgrade it as you please like any other 1-day base MYW ticket. One exception is with a time-based pass like an Annual Pass, which the CMs are capable of upgrading right away (since entering the park doesn't affect the expiration date of the pass).

P.S. It was right in the GAD FAQ that you could upgrade it...

Right. :thumbsup2 And here is the link if you want to print that portion of the FAQs to bring with you (if it makes you feel less stressed :)) :

May I upgrade my free one day ticket to an Annual Pass or multi-day ticket?

Yes, you may upgrade the free ticket to another ticket type of greater value within the applicable upgrade window. However, you are responsible for the incremental cost and the new ticket may only be used by you. No changes or refunds will be given. The value of the free ticket may not be used to combine or upgrade with a separate single or multi-day ticket.
