Ticket Price Rise

Meh, it's the second hike in a year.

Someone has to pay for the privilege of the MDE/MB/FP+ havoc! ;)

Am I the only one who finds the US prices a bit crazy? Ouch!

Our's aren't much better. The difference is that per day value of the 14 and 21 day tickets is great. Look at the new 9 day ticket for UK guests - or the 5/7 day one. Those cost more than the US ones. And ours have gone up too, and do every year.

I balked at paying about £160 for an adult 14 day ticket in 2008. I think it has gone up nearly £100 since then - or close enough.

Just had a quick look, we bought a 14 day ticket in Dec 2006 for DMIL, cost £152.

Sometimes you have to take a stand against something, I did it against Sky TV a few years ago, I was with them right from the start in the 1990's paying under £10/month for the whole package (albeit not the same as today) prices kept rising, I set a figure of £30/month, I cancelled as soon as they went over that, probably around 10 years ago and not gone back.

Doing same with Disney this year, when our AP's expire in July that is it for the forseeable future, I know it won't be a 10+ year gap like Sky TV but it will be break. Paying out over £1,000 for our AP's last July did it for me, just too much money. Will keep up with our SW & BG AP's, they only cost us £36pp per park per year.
Its not just the price, last Easter on our roadtrip we realised we enjoyed Florida away from the parks so after July the time has come to explore further afield.

I hear you! To be truthful, I know that I am resisting the breaking point for us and we really have crossed it. Our visit a little over a year ago cost us £3200 without spends but including the rest. Mirror visit this year although one day longer, but in June/July instead of early September is costing us just shy of £6k. To be truthful, I hadn't added it up in its entirety but I'm still buckling under a bit of sticker shock as I type this, having done the math this weekend on a spreadsheet and I feel quite sick. Fair enough, busier season means paying more for flights and we are paying 30% more for our room, ticket prices are up (and I admit we took 21 days not 14 this time in the absence of the MNSSHP's) but it's brought me down to earth with a bump. Yes, I did add BLT, but we rented points and it was cheaper per night than POFQ with free dining :scared1: I'm open minded about next year. I love Disney. But I'm not completely void of common sense despite how I may present myself :rotfl2:

We are not buying Disney tickets this year partly because we are spending one week at the beach but mainly because our 11th trip and we have been to Disney on all previous trips. Plus only one new ride this year, Seven Dwarfs Mine train. Our tickets would cost nearly £900 for 14 days. We are going to take it easier and just go to Universal, BG, SW, AQ, DC and Legoland, so still a lot of parks. I don't want to add up what it's costing but has to be over £6000 without spending money, but that is 23 nights. So just can't justify Disney tickets again. Will go next year though and not do the other parks. I am really looking forward to the new Harry Potter at Universal but most of all looking forward to a week at St Petes.

We didn't go to WDW in October last year, we wanted to go back to DC and added SW and BG, also went to Universal for the first time in about 5 years. We always enjoy having a few days going to the beach or state park or just driving somewhere different so we decided to give it a miss as we couldn't justify the extra cost and we had been in December so wouldn't be doing anything new. We went to MNSSHP so had a small fix :)

I daren't add up how much we have spent over the years:scared1: But if we hadn't been to Disney we would have gone somewhere else!

Hi,
The problem as I see it is this:
Where do you draw the line. We used to take regular cruises on DCL but stopped in 2007 as we could sail RCL for not much more than half the price and Celebrity two thirds. Are they Disney? of course not but not a bad second choice. Going to the USA is like going home for us (we would live there if they'd let us.!) so to us going short haul to Europe is not an option. Likewise I couldn't imagine doing Orlando without Disney. We are lucky enough to get 3 x 3 week trips out of our AP's so at about £800 each that's a little over £13 per day. And before you ask we usually do go every day we are there as that's the beauty of an AP, spend all day or just call in to catch the fireworks etc. We also offset the cost by trying to get the best deal on flights and hotels etc. (we are flying Xmas day as it's cheap) The way prices are rising in this Country if you stop using something after a certain level of price is reached what you can do will soon be very limited (Petrol,Food Insurance) etc.
Just my thoughts.
Mick

In all fairness, when we talk about 2008 and before, we're talking about $2 for a quid when it's now barely $1.5 (it has picked up a bit, but prices are based on a lower exchange rate)

so the price hikes have hit us even more.

I haven't been around for a while - we didn't go to WDW last year (though we did go to DL California).
We are doing a week at SSR in Aug this year - I booked it when the 'free' DDP offer was on but it's still very expensive. The kids are large teenagers now so we went for the 2BR suite, the package comes to over £3000 for the week. A big discount compared to what I'd have to pay now but still a lot.
That said it might be the last time all four of us go together which is a bit sad in itself...

I think I must be the only one who doesn't use the UK tickets. I actually find the US ones better value for us - even although the work out more per day spent at Disney.

We usually go for 14-20 nights and if offsite we don't do all 14 days at Disney (combined with other parks and probably more cruises in the future). So on average we spend 4 or 5 days at Disney and a further 4 at their water parks. We don't park hop as I am disabled and its just too much of a hassel to get scooter or chair off and on buses etc.

This year 5+4 will cost us £205 which is about £75 less than the UK ticket - that £75 nearly covers the cost of the universal 2 day ticket.

A few people use the US tickets, we all have to work out the best for our own needs. Over the years we have had more AP's than any other kind, doing upto 4 trips a year they worked out the best value as we park hop almost every day and don't use water parks, the basic AP with discounts & free parking worked very well.
We still have unexpired water park days left on very old tickets (15 years?) but rather stay by a quiet hotel pool than go in the water parks.

Our next trip will be for 16 days, at least 10 will be in Disney with hopping so not much difference in cost to a 14 day ticket (if we didn't have AP's)

After 33 trips based around Disney it won't do us any harm to have a few trips trying different things.
