Ticket price increase coming at Walt Disney World!

I just assumed it's an effort to make adding one or two day Universal visit to a Disney vacation look like really bad value.

Oh, I don't know. I don't think Universal needs Disney's help to make a one or two day visit look like a terrible value. IMO Universal's pricing structure (same game as WDW) does that all by itself.

We just bought 3 non resident Platinum AP's tonight just in case they go up. Our trip will be sometime in August so I'd be kicking myself if I went to buy them a few months from now and they were more.

We bought three Platinum APs yesterday too -just in case. DD is applying for CP this year (waiting to hear after phone interview). If she gets it then for sure me, DW, and DS will make an extra trip or two to see her. If she doesn't get CP, we still can make this coming year the year of several short-medium WDW trips. Been going to WDW regularly since 2000 and this is our first time with APs.

They don't call the NAME of the Water Park option "Water Parks Fun and More" but,
it appears that the Fun and More options ARE still included.

Those options are, as before:
Both Water Parks
Both Miniature Golf Courses (before 4pm)
A round of golf at the 9-hole Oak Trail Golf Course

Disney Quest has not been named as an option for years, but it has actually been included.
This MIGHT continue now... until DQ finally closes (which has been announced.)

Well that was a huge jump in price on the multi-day ticket :( Last night, 6 day basic passes would have cost our family $2020 (factoring in exchange). New price? $2200. Interestingly enough, the tickets for Canadians, didn't increase in price, so it's now a greater than 25% discount, except that it is showing a first use date of Dec 31/17 :( So crushed.

But they didn't raise them much. Peak prices didn't rise and in most cases value prices didn't either. They could've had much larger increases but in my eyes went smaller due to the decline in attendance.

So attendance is down for the last quarter--- because of pricing... Did anyone out there get a raise in the last quarter to make not only the last price increase affordable, but also this "little" one?

7 day hopper tickets (2 adults) I had saved in the cart went up from $935 to $1033

Someone posted that it averages a 15% increase across the board. That increase is INSANE (especially when compounded with all the other increases the last few years). I am glad I have no trip this year. Other than using up old tickets, I don't know if I ever will, b/c almost $400 for a 4 day ticket when 2 parks are 1/2 days is nuts (and a family of 4 pays $1600 JUST in tickets for those 4 days)...and to think they had to offer the $259 4 day deal earlier this year to get people there...but sure, they'll come for $400 just months later...

15% average is really high - unless they think so many people were waiting for Pandora to be done that was why attendance was down and that it will go back up and they want to take advantage of that

I know some people that are huge Avatar fans and were waiting for the park to open - but can't be that many. Now for Star Wars Land I could see it

Yes the prices are outrageous. Disney doesn't care if the average USA family can afford it. They want to get the most money they can. Cant blame them there.

Really glad we bought them last night!! Looked this morning and the platinum APs went from $749 to $779, saved almost $100 for our 3 APs!

Looking at the new prices for APs and I think Disney has priced us out for the next time. We don't renew, we just buy APs every other year so we can get two long summer vacations out of them. Last time we bought I believe they were $650, now $750, by next time it will be $800! Looks like we will be looking for a new vacation spot the summer after our APs expire

Ok, I'm no expert marketer. But why would you put $20 increases on your 3 day tickets, $50 (yes, seriously, a $50 increase) on 4 day tickets, and then drop the 2 day tickets price? I know those 3-6 day tickets are probably the most popular, but not a CHANCE I would pay those prices. I mean, even factoring in that $20 discount, you are talking about a $30 increase per ticket for a 4 day. All they are doing is telling me to spend only 2 days at Disney and go spend the rest of my vacation elsewhere.

For all those that questioned how a few bucks could make a trip unaffordable, this is your answer. Sure, $5 on 4 tickets might not make you unable to afford the trip, but $20-$60 per ticket certainly could.

Yeah it's definitely interesting to see how they did this one.

Wow . .that is a huge price increase for multi-day tickets.
Tickets from $66/day up to $74/day . .for SEVEN days?
$8/day increase? Yikes!

When they raised the ticket by $5 for one day tickets .. I would have expected multi-day tickets to see LESS of an increase . .not more.

The two day vs 3 day change is really odd as now, per that site a 2-day adult ticket is $211.94 and a 3-day is $329.09 ... meaning that third day costs you $117.15

But during regular or value season a 1-day ticket to any of the parks is less than that ... so you'd be better off getting the 2 day and a single day separate vs getting a 3-day

We usually get four day passes. I'm not thrilled to have to spend an extra fifty dollars a person to see two good parks and two lame parks. Two day passes seem wiser.

Of course that will change once DHS is done but I wonder what passes will cost by then...

They have priced their parks to make that the smarter plan...
