ticket increase- help me decide what to do

We currently have 8 night reservations at swan/dolphin and I am/will be very happy to stay at S/D.
However, we have said if free dining becomes available for our dates (Oct 28-Nov 5) then we would swith to CSR or CBR.
So my dilema with the ticket increase (we had planned to get 7 day base or hopper tickets 2 adults 2 kids) if we buy now we save just under $100, but if I wait I have the *possible* chance of saving my entire (mostly entire) food bill. But could end up eatting the $100 if no free dining is offered.

So, what would you do? Buy tickets now and be happy with S/D or take a chance?

I would buy them now and then if free dining is offered for your dates I would put the tickets back for a future trip to the world.

I agree. I wouldn't plan on a special that "might" come out. As long as you don't use the tickets, they are good indefinitely so you could save them for a future trip. Of course, it all ends up costing more oop right now. Also you could book the potential free dining package and just buy the minimum # of ticket days needed to get free dining but still, the 1st 2-3 days of tickets are the most expensive.

I would not buy the tickets. Several years back I thought i was being smart and purchased the 10 day non-expiring tickets. Disney's specials all "punish" people for buying ahead. Having the tickets did not save me money in the long run and really actually cost me money as I missed several good deals along the way.

I would wait. When you think of the total cost of the trip, $100 is a small savings and worth the risk of a better deal later.

Sounds like a good plan, but that does not fit the budget for this trip and as we are west coasters, we normally go to DisneyLand and most likely will go there again rather than DW

Well, yes, then that changes everything. I wouldn't want to be stuck with something I probably won't use again. It's worth it to wait for specials and if there are none, just pay a slightly higher price.
