Hi everyone! I need some expert advice. DBF and I will be visiting Disney 9/19-9/27. From the 19th-23rd we have a package deal booked with 3 of our friends at the villas at the wilderness lodge with 4 day non hoppers.

Once our friends leave we'll be checking into the beach club for the rest of our stay. Here's where our issue comes in. We just found out that we can't extend our own tickets until check in because were on a package. We want to extend ours to 8 days with park hoppers and we know waiting will mess up our fastpass options. Does anyone have any experience with this or know of other options we may be missing?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Are ALL of you (your friends included) part of the SAME PACKAGE
(one single package that has every member of your large group signed up together?)

If it is just TWO of you in YOUR package, you CAN add days to YOUR tickets right now.
(Or, it may be possible that even if everyone is signed together, but only YOU TWO are in a room by yourselves,
YOU may be able to add days to just both of YOUR tickets.)

Thanks, Robo! We're all on the same package and staying in one room. We would do separate rooms but we save a ton more money this way. And who doesn't love squishing 5 grown adults in one room?? DBF called today to see if we could extend and that's when we were informed. I'm okay with just worrying about FP+ for the rest of the trip when we're there, but he's not.

Sorry but everyone in the same room must have the same kind of ticket when you have a resort package.

You can upgrade individual tickets once you are at WDW, but only after you have checked-in and (in so doing) have activated your tickets.

And, once activated, tickets cannot be "reduced" so upgrading everyone and then trying to "downgrade" some of them after you are at WDW won't work, either.

Thanks again! I figured we wouldn't be able to upgrade and then try to downgrade. IMHO, it's not worth worrying about the FP+ situation. It'll still be a great time.

If your friends are willing to do this, you could drop the tickets from your package (either do room-only or do room and dining package) and then all buy the tickets you need for your stay separately - friends purchase 4-day park hoppers and you purchase 8-day park hoppers. You will still have your resort reservations, so you will all get 60 day FP+ reservation privileges and now friends can schedule 4 days of FP+ and you can schedule 8 days of FP+ without having to wait to get to the resort. If you choose to do this, choose the "will call" option when purchasing your tickets. You can then use the will call confirmation number to link the tickets to MDE and they will link immediately. They will also be linked to the magic bands you receive for your resort stays.
