Ticket expiration if never activated

Tomorrow my mom is going to buy me and DH two 7-day tickets at her local military base. She can get them for $244 each before the price goes up on Sept 1st. If I had an emergency and for some reason couldn't use the tickets (on a planned Nov 10 day trip) how long are they good for if never activated at a park?

My understanding is that if never activated, they never expire. If activated, 14 days from first use.
