Ok, I know I've asked a few questions already. I just thought of this. If dh and I each have a park hopper from before the AK was around and we trade them in for new MMY tickets what will I get for a credit? I was thinking of trading it for a 4 or 5 day ticket. I'm confused on how this will all work. So one old PH ticket w/ 3 days (befor AK) for a new MMY ticket for 4-5days. I guess I need to know how much that would be. Anyway to figure this out? Thanks!

Bumping this back to page one for you, so that some of our veterans can offer advice.

The only way you can get an exact price is to have the ticket scanned at Guest Relations and they will tell you the current value of the ticket that can be applied towards a new one.

The basic rule of thumb that will give you a very close approximation of the remaining value of the old tickets is to divide the original price paid for the ticket by the number of original theme park days the ticket had, then multiply that figure by the number of unused days remaining.

If you choose to apply the days to a new MYW ticket, you will only be given the value of what you paid for the ticket (days) -- for example, if you have a 5-day hopper ticket that cost $100 and you had three days left, you would only receive a $60 credit towards a new ticket, not three days worth of a ticket.

It would be in your best interest to just ask that the ticket be traded in for a three-day hopper as the ticket you possess would no longer go through the ticket turnstyles.

If you choose to go the route of asking for a three-day hopper (and not the applying to a MYW ticket), the replacement ticket you will be given will give you access to the Animal Kingdom. In the past, guests were only given tickets that included the parks that were open at the time of the original purchase. This is no longer the case. I had a ticket from 1995 that had two days left on it and was able to trade it in for a two-day hopper that included all four theme parks.

I hope this all makes sense. :flower:

Ok, I guess I don't understand why my old Park hopper won't go through the turnstile. It looks like all the hopper tickets we have that haven't been on the key card. It's older, but not that old.

I wanted to trade in my old hopper w/ 3 days left for a 5 day MMY ticket b/c I thought it would be a lot cheaper than buying a 2 day MMY+hopper. 2 day ticket is $154 and 5 day ticket is $221 - the credit I would get. Is this making sense? Thanks.

It would probably be best to trade your ticket in for a new one just because you said Animal Kingdom wasn't around when you bought those hoppers. They'll give you a ticket that will work at all 4 theme parks if you trade it in. I don't know if that's the case, but it's my best guess.

You had me right up until the last 2 sentences.

Not sure what you're asking there! :) GoldenOldie gave you the best advice. She always does! ;)

I created a program that may help you with your decision. Just click on the link in my signature. You'll need Microsoft Excel to run it. Good luck!

Bad guess. ;) The ticket she has is completely useable at all 4 theme parks now with no exchanging necessary. The AK restriction was lifted 9 months after the park opened.

As long as your old ticket is one of the magnetic strip tickets, it will work just fine in the turnstile today. If it is one of the pre-1996 tickets that needed to be stamped then you would have to turn the ticket in to Guest Relations to have it reissued as a magnetic strip ticket to use it now.

Can't tell without knowing the complete specifics of your old tickets. You may have figured wrong.

A 5 day MYW PH that expires 14 days after first use would run you $242.82 at the gate. You would pay the difference between the credit on your old ticket and the gate price of the new one.

I got the ticket prices off of Disney. I also didn't think about having to have the no experiation date.

They are the tickets with the magnetic strip.

I was thinking about turning them in instead of buying a 2 day or 1 day ticket. I just thought it would be cheaper. We may just keep them how they are since we can get into the AK. That would leave us 2 days w/out tickets. I don't mind so much on the 1st day. We do get in early, but can find stuff to fill the time. Our return flight isn't until 9 ish. So we have a whole day to fill pretty much w/out access to a room. We could save a ticket for that day, and rent a car for one day to go shopping! I think we're staying at the Swan so that won't be a huge ordeal.

Thank you!
