Ticket buying question

I was going to purchase my park tickets through Undercover Tourist as they seem to be the least expensive. We are just doing a One Day/One Park.

I talked to my hotel today (they are a Universal Partner hotel) and they said I can only get the Early Admission tickets direct from Universal, not through them? So I'm guessing this means I have to buy them through Universal and not UT? Or is there another way? :confused3

You only get the early admission if you purchase a package directly through universal. That means you have to book your offsite hotel and order tickets (in a package) through the universal website or through the travel agency on the website.

Just staying at a Universal Partner hotel does not qualify anyone for early admission. You cannot also just book your tickets through universal separately and expect to get early admission. The tickets that are given out allowing for early admission are only given if you booked your hotel and tickets as part of a package.

This is the link... http://www.universalorlando.com/Vacation-Packages/bf/how-to-book.aspx

The site is down right now for maintenance.

but, you can get it all cheaper by booking hotel and tickets separately.

packages cost more and have restrictions on cancellations with penalties.

Ah gotcha. I didn't realize how it all worked.

I definitely saved by booking everything separately. If I would have booked the same hotel and suite through the Universal package, it would have cost me almost $400 more. Early Admission and the CityWalk Party Pass are definitely not worth that ;)

Yup, you've really got to shop around with the packages. There are some reasonably priced ones though if you really want the early admission.

But it works differently for on-site guests, right? (Pretty please, say yes cuz I'm stressing....)

I booked RPR and bought tix through UT. My RPR confirmation email reads: "Don't forget you enjoy exclusive theme park benefits: Skip the regular lines in both Universal Orlando theme parks . . . As an on-site hotel guest you can enjoy Early Park Admission to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, one hour before the park opens." In the footnotes, it just says "Requires paid theme park admission" but it doesn't say where you have to buy tickets from.

UT tickets are valid for the darkside parks.

you don't have to worry about a thing.

Yes. If you stay onsite it doesn't matter where you get your tickets from. The issue only arises when you stay offsite.
