Fellow DISers,

I am in need of some help! My husband and I are trying to plan a trip for May 28, 2012 through June 2, 2012. We are want to find the best deals when booking our trip. We want to stay in Disney resort, we want park hopper option on our tickets, and we want the dining plan(Basic). When I was chatting with a Disney cast member on their site, I asked about purchasing dining, tickets, and room separately. They told me I couldn't do that if I wanted dining plan, because it has to be a package in order to get the dinning plan. The cast member did say that to get dinning plan, all I needed was a one day magic your way ticket added to our package.

So, here is what I'm wanting to know:
1. If we book a package and just add a one day MYW ticket, will the dinning plan be good for all six days, or just for the one day we have a ticket for?
2. If I purchase a package with just a one day ticket, can I buy tickets for the rest of our trip separately?
3. Would it be cheaper/smarter to buy two FL RES Annual Passes, instead of buying two 5 day FL RES MYW Tickets with PH?
4. If we forgo the MYW Tickets and buy AP's, can we still get a package with room and dining?

Please forgive me in advance for this long post. I'm a little clueless! Any help or suggestions would be great! Thank you!

If you are planning to go to WDW again within 12 months, then the AP may work for you. If you book a room under the AP discount (though AP discounts for that time of year haven't been released yet), you can book a AP dining package, i.e. adding the dining plan without needing to buy MYW tickets. You may have to show your AP at check-in or within 24 hours of check-in.

I don't know the ins and outs of the Florida AP (blackout dates, etc.). So someone else should be able to help you there.

If you choose to do the regular dining plan/MYW package, plan to just upgrade the tickets you buy for the package to the length you need for the trip. Buying two one-day tickets and two four-day tickets would be much more expensive than just one set of five-day tickets.

So, here is what I'm wanting to know:
1. If we book a package and just add a one day MYW ticket, will the dinning plan be good for all six days, or just for the one day we have a ticket for? Dining plan will be good for your length of stay. You will get credits for each night you're staying, regardless of the length of your stay.
2. If I purchase a package with just a one day ticket, can I buy tickets for the rest of our trip separately? Yes, but it's probably not cost-effective. Disney front-loads its tickets so that the longer the ticket, the less each day costs. It's probably more cost-effective to buy the length of ticket you need, or if you don't want to spend the money up front, just upgrade the ticket to whatever you want once you get to Disney.
3. Would it be cheaper/smarter to buy two FL RES Annual Passes, instead of buying two 5 day FL RES MYW Tickets with PH? You'll have to do the math.
4. If we forgo the MYW Tickets and buy AP's, can we still get a package with room and dining? Yes. You would get an AP ticketless package; you don't have to buy additional tickets.

Please forgive me in advance for this long post. I'm a little clueless! Any help or suggestions would be great! Thank you!

Thanks Ladies! I appreciate your help! I would really like to purchase annual passes, but I'm not sure it would be cost effective. I'm still crunching numbers and researching everything though. If you have any more advice or tips you could give, that would be great!

Based on the dates you are going, I would seriously consider a FL Resident Seasonal pass. This is what I did for our 4 day/3 night trip. And couldn't be happier. Just with the room & merchandise discounts alone, the price difference between the 4 day park-hopper and AP has been paid for already.

I just looked up a 5 day w/park hopper, which is $241.50. The seasonal pass will allow you to go your dates, and the price is $269. You can also put the Seasonal AP on the payment plan for about $90 down, and $17/month. (that is the only way I could get my AP)

The Seasonal AP doesn't include free parking if you want to make several day trips, and it also has block out dates: Christmas/New Years, Spring Break/Easter, and June 9-August 16, 2012. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/me...Type/PassholderBenefits/FRSPCalendar_2012.jpg

With the Seasonal Pass, you can have the dining plan on your room-only reservations, as well as be eligible for any possible AP room discounts that come out. For example, I saved $27 for one night at the POP using my AP discount. You can book your room before the discounts come out, and when they are released (if there are any during the time of your vacation) you can apply the discount, as long as the hotel and room category are included. Even if the hotel/category you want is not included, you may be able to upgrade to something better. I was able to get a Wilderness Lodge courtyard view for $100 more per night then I would have paid at POP standard per night rack room. And only $15 more than the POFQ garden view I had booked. The AP discount didn't cover POFQ for my dates, but for only $15 more a night, I was able to get into WL courtyard. I had to pinch myself because I didn't believe it.

Another thing to consider is that you can also purchase and use Tables in Wonderland, in addition to using the DP or instead of using the DP. It is $75 and for me and my dbf it was well worth it just for the amount of alcohol we can drink, not even beginning to include the savings on food. I had it figured out how much you would have to spend on each meal to make it worth it vs just using TIW. I will have to find it. You are also eligible for the AP 10% off discounts on merchandise.

This might be a dumb question, but If I've already purchased FL Annual Passes, could I down grade them to FL seasonal annual passes?

I am pretty sure you cannot. I know you can upgrade for sure, but in order to downgrade I am almost positive you would need to wait until the renewal time.
